Hi, I'm Jen.

Don't hate me because I'm from California.

Just moved from Southern California to Fort Collins. WTF is all this white crap falling from the sky and clogging up my driveway?

Moved out of a neighborhood where we've had our house burglarized, graffitted on, license plates stolen off cars, had mail stolen, had cars spit on, had living room window shot out, had plants stolen out of planters, had non-stop blasting of music from bumping car steros, weekly visits from police helicopters, had police search our backyard for a fugitive, had a different fugitive hop our back wall and run through the yard, neighboor painted his white fence with air gun right next to our black vehicles, then pretended to not speak english:siesta:...ug...and the list goes on.

Couldn't bring ourselves to spend $600k plus to move to a mid-range neighborhood in so cal, so after visiting a bunch of cities and states, here we are in Northern CO. Jobless, and still trying to sell our house in CA.

Enough sob story? I though so.

I ride a yellow Suzuki 2004 GS500f. It's my first bike. Had it for about a year and a half, put about 7k miles on it, mostly weekends in the mountains or watching my life flash before my eyes splitting on CA freeways. Have done one track day at California Speeday--much FUN! Didn't want to have to re-jet the carbs for altitude, but after starting it up a few days ago, I think it might need it. Can anyone recommend a shop? (I can change oil, but needles and shims are a bit over my head). Gonna need some heated grips and hand guards, too. Brr.

Looking to get a new bike also, then Hubby gets the GS to learn on. Was interested in a sport tourer, like the VFR or a Triumph Sprint, but they are so darn bulky and heavy. Also drooling over the new red R6 and R6s, or GSXR 600 or 750. Too many choices!!

Anyways....looking forward to meeting some new people, learning a new place, and exploring all the mountain roads once all this white stuff melts off a bit.

Yep. The 74 and the 243 through Idyllwild are some fun roads. My last trip up the 74, I rode with a ton of people I didn't know, and the two guys I vaguely knew crossed the double yellows and had a close encounter with a mini van.

My favorite So Cal road is the 38 up out of Mentone, also know as the "back way" up to Big Bear. Curvy, light traffic, pretty green forest.

Hey Jen,

Welcome aboard! I'm not too far from you in Milliken. Ever looking for riding buddies please let me know. There are several of us CSC'ers up here and once summer comes there are some great rides in the area.

Truthfully I rode all 12 months last year and you've arrived just in time for one of the larger storms of the past few years.

As for getting work on your bike done, I can highly recommend TK motorsports in Denver. They are near 8th and I 25 and do nice work for reasonable money. Realize that no matter what you are going to loose quite a bit of power by being at altitude.

Looking forward to meeting you both!~

nice to have you here. well winter doesn't look like this all the time. for the most part its sunny. they say 360 day of sun shine lol! thers tones of great roads to ride during the warm months, as for the colder times its slim pikens lol. and actualy one of my favrit rides starts in ft. colins. puder cayon. iv always wanted to ride out in ca it seems like theres tons of fun roads out there.

as for shops i dont know any one up there but look on the csc main page for Local Resources and go to shops. all the guys listed on there seem to be great people to deal with. also chack out the good roads section. that a lot of the roads we ride. i like to go and find new ones too.

dont take the bike to Rays Motorcycles up on Drake for that re-jet, he screwed up my friends 01 R1, my friend ended up taking it to fort collins motorsports to make everthing right again, also if you are in the market for a new bike, i would stear away from carbs, they tend to sufficate around 10,000 ft.

now that that is out of the way, you should swing by the motohaus tomorrow evening, good coffee and nice place to hang, owners are real cool, i should be there around 6pm ish, most everyone else shows up around 7pm

Wow.

Hi, and welcome.

Uh, personally, I would never take anything to Fort Collins Motorsports. The prices are through the roof (check for yourself), once you buy something there they treat you like they don't know you- and I've never heard anything good about the service department what-so-ever. And I really like the look of the new R1- especially for being Japanese.

If you were looking for a Suzuki dealer, Twin Peaks Powersports just down the road in Longmont is not bad, and there are many shops here in town that can do a great job- just don't happen to be Suzuki dealers.

And we have a fun little track about half-an-hour down the road, IMI. Not very big, not very fast, but only $25 for the whole day, almost any day you want to go. And you can drag your knee through about every corner.

Where did you guys end up living (what part of town)?

Welcome! My wife (Butterfly) and I mad a similar move 1 1/2 years ago and haven't looked back. Much better quality of life out here (in spite of the snow!). Only thing we miss is the beach a little bit, but everything else here more than makes up for it. :)

Welcome SkyBlue. Glad to have another girl to ride with. I've got a Z750S...it's in my sig line. My first sportbike and love riding. We really do have some awesome canyons to ride when the weather is more agreeable. Oh, and although leviathin said we meet up at MotoHaus every Thursday, it's true, but I don't think I will be able to get my van off of my street today.:( I can get it in and out of the drive just great, but the street is another tricky situation.

Check out our MotoHaus posts for the address. I'm hoping to be there next Thursday. Thursday nights are "bike nights" and Max and Angela play movies on their flat screen those nights.

Welcome to the club!
