2/4/03 UPDATE: :)
In addition to the already-announced discounted pricing, bike maintenance demos and Alpinestars & Joe Rocket reps, we have also confirmed:
- Alice Palmer, an MRA roadracer will represent her aspect of the sport
- Felicia Waddell, the first lady drag racer to have a podium finish is bringing her bike
- Kelly Longwell, MX racer will bring her bike and answer questions regarding dirt riding
- Connie Kassel, ex-MRA president and PPIR track rep will be attending; and I'm told Connie is a guru of track setup!
- Jurgen Wimbauer, owner/manager of Team InfoTech, who supported the only all-female endurance team, "Sirens" on the WERA circuit last year will join us. Team Infotech races and provides rider training.
- Mike Pettiford of Go4It Services, who provides training for cruiser and sportbike riders from basic street to advanced racing, will also be on hand
Performance has also kindly agreed to provide refreshments.
Ladies, all of these resources have been brought together to give you the opportunity to ask as many questions as you want, get as much info as you need, and have as much fun as you can. Make the most of it!
Looking forward to meeting you at the event.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Ladies, mark your calendars - the inaugral Ladies' Gear Night is on!
Performance Cycle have graciously agreed to host our first event on Friday, February 7th from 5:00 to 8:00pm, at their store at 1990 S. Broadway, Denver, (1 block North of Evans).
In addition to Performance's knowledgeable and helpful staff, we will have manufacturers' reps from Alpinestars and Joe Rocket in attendance to help with gear selection, answer questions and take your suggestions back to their respective companies.
We will also have live demos on the basics of bike maintenance, such as chain adjustment, fluid checks, brake pad wear checks, cable adjustment etc. So if you've always wondered whether you were doing it right, or how to do it all, now's your chance to see it done and ask all the questions you want!
Performance will also be offering special pricing on ladies riding gear on the night, so if you've been after that jacket/pants/protector/boots/gloves combo for a while, this is the night to come get it!
We are hoping for representatives from the dirt and road racing associations, some professional trainers and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to be there to answer your questions - be they "How do I get started?" to "I want to go racing!!!" More details as these are confirmed.
So ladies, start spreading the word. This event is in no way limited to CSC members, sportbike riders or the members of this BB - all lady riders are welcome :D . This has taken some work to get off the ground and we need your support to make it a success and ensure it happens again.
So regardless of where you ride (on the street or on the dirt), what you ride (sportbike, cruiser, Harley, dirtbike, European, Japanese, American, whatever) and even if you're not going to buy gear on the night - we look forward to meeting you there!.
Heck - come along just for the fun of it!
Please RSVP to me either via the board, PM or email so we can get an idea of expected attendance. Since this is the first event of it's kind, the RSVP request is only to give us an idea of expected numbers. RSVP is preferred, but not required!!!!
If you have ideas for what else you'd like to see on the night, feel free to send them to me - we'll take them all into consideration!
Many thanks and look forward to meeting you all on the 7th!
