I NEED SOME SPEAKERS FOR MY HELMET. I was think'n 'bout ear buds but then the volume control is cumbersom. It would be nice to have them mounted inside the helmet, but not necessary.

They need to:
1) Be small (of course), & comfortable.
2) Have a volume switch I can find & control quickly/easily.

I used to purchase some big speakers from radio-smack. The sound was "great", the volume control was secured to the bottom of the helmet. I would use a break away cord to my tank bag where the player would sit.
Only part I didn't like was melting out the foam in the helmet, technically ruining the structural integrity of the helmet.

Thanks for your support,
Dietrich

buy some cheap head phone that look like if you take speaker part out of the plastic will fit in the ear groove of your helmet. Ear bugs are uncomfortable but I suffer through it. I'm still not comfortable with the traffic in this area to wear them while on the roads.

I bought a pair of headphones that had pretty flat speakers and a volume control knob on the cord. I broke the speakers off the headset piece and was able to cut out a little of the padding (not the foam...just the pad near where your ear would be) and used industrial velcro to attach them inside the helmet.....that way they can be removed if necessary.

That setup works well for me. I run a splitter so I can plug into my radar detector and have my mp3 player going at the same time if I want.

Do you remember where you got them/brand? Also, do they have volume control... There's nothing worse than flailing around for the volume control while at a stop light & someone wants to say something or the po-po is run'n from the car to biatch @ you!!!

I keep the volume at a reasonable level and when those situations come up, I just hit the pause button.

I don't recall the brand and the speakers don't say anything on them since I took them off the headband piece. I got them at either Circuit City or Radio Shack (bought two pairs before I found that one that worked and can't remember which one!)

and yes, it does have a volume control thing that is on the cord, it hangs right below the bottom of the helmet and can be reached easily if you need to change it.

You might want to check out www.helmetaudio.com . I got a set of speakers for my wife from them that work quite well, and were cheap to boot!
