Like it says, I'm new here... I'm in Orlando right now but will be up to Colorado Springs in about a year or so. Looking forward to the move, and doing some riding up there. I've got an 07 Suzuki M109R (I know I dont have a sportbike yet, but the ZX-14 is coming as soon as the 9 is paid off) The 109 is my first bike (1800cc) and I knew better than to get the 14 because I probably wouldnt be here typing this with that as a first bike. I also just bought an 03 Sonic Blue Lightning pickup if there are any HD truck or L owners on here. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and hopefully riding with ya soon enough.

The first picture with everyone in it, the big guy in the middle with the punisher shirt on is me, and my bike is on the right in the pic with the silver jacket.
Not to many guys my age on Power Cruisers... most 19 year olds are on sport bikes. I ride with a bunch of old guys, but they are all really cool. The second youngest in my "gang" is 35. I really liked the look of the 109, and the power is awesome for being 800 pounds. It's an 1800cc. I cannot wait to get my ZX-14. I'm thinking Plasma blue to match the truck. ;)

Hi Sonic Boom. I've been out here for 8 years, but am originally from Palm Bay (45 miles SE of Orlando). Do you know when you'll get here? I was in Palm Bay last summer for about a month and when I came back to Denver I 'froze' the first night here and it was only 55 at night.
BTW people, 55 is freezing in Florida. Brrr...!

Welcome aboard! Best of luck here, although I'd seriously reconsider your choices of first bikes. Too late on the 109, but methinks you should seriously reconsider the 14. The roads a re very dangerous here. Although, I'm sure Jeff would snatch it right up should you decide to sell it immediately after you get it after scaring yourself silly.....

Jason,
Yeah I was in Palm Bay a few weekends ago. I like going there, the beaches are nice and its not as crowded as cocoa/daytona. On the bike too. I'll be up there within the next year or so.
Monkey,
I know I should reconsider but I'm going wait until i get up there with my 109 and get used to the roads and mountains. Then eventually move up to the 14. That is the only sportbike I can get on, I've ridden my roommates 06 GSXR 750 a few times, and It's wayyyyy to small for my big ass. I'm 6'6 at 290. I'm a big MF'er, and the 14 is the only thing that fits. Sat on my dad's CBR1000RR, that's too small too. Honestly not a fan of the 'Busa, Bike night in orlando should really be 'Busa night because EVERYONE has one down here. It's irritating, I dont even like seeing them anymore. I might reconsider until I have a few more thousand miles on the 109. I got it in october and I'm nearing 5000 miles now, and I ride it once or twice a week.
I may come to my senses and realize that the 14 might be too much for a first sportbike, but I cannot ride something that I do not fit on. And I wear a size 18 shoe(there's a member on here that can verify this), and I can barely hit the brakes and gear shifter on a GSXR. I've ridden a 14 around a parking lot, but that obviously makes me no expert on the ZX. The 14 was the first comfortable sportbike i've ever been on. :dunno:
Dont know, I'll definitely consider seasoned bike riders warnings.
Although, everyone told me not to learn on an 1800cc, but I did it. When I took my MSF class, the instructor HAD to have a picture of me on the Kawi 125 Eliminator. I'll see if i can find it... :pointlaugh:

sonic,
have you gotten on the zx10r or the gsxr1000 yet? Both those bikes felt like they can handle a bigger person such as your self.
the 14 should be alright. What I was told from people that had 'em was that powerband started higher in the rpm's and wasn't terribley torque'y in the lows rpm's. Given you wieght, I'd think you'd be alright. Given my wieght (150), I'm sure that thing would fly like peterpan.

The new GSXR1000 is the same size as the 750 isnt it? They had them parked next to each other in the showroom and I honestly couldnt tell the difference. (Except for the color differences) Havent sat on a ZX-10... I might do that this weekend. I dont know... When I sat on the 14, it just felt right. I felt like I was sitting on a Sport-Tourer more than a sportbike. I'm sure by the time I pay off my 109, they'll have something new out that i'll want even more. :dunno:
Mental, I'll be up there from the 9th to the 18th of march. Maybe if the weather's good I'll get to do some riding. (The person i'm visiting has a few bikes)

Actually, to me, the new new GSXR1000 feels smaller/shorter than the 750...this may be a perception for me, but I was more comfortable on the 750; the 1000 feels too small to me.

Sonic Boom, maybe you should consider the SV1000s. Not just because I'm biased, but because it's a damn good bike and with the extra power it's great for us larger guys.
But the Kawi ZX14 is a good bike too.
Why don't you like Orlando, or central Florida? I'd move back (to Tampa anyway) in a heartbeat if I could find employment down there.

I sat on the SV, it fit, but I would prefer the 14 on appearances alone. I'm riding a suzuki right now too... M109R. ;)
Things have really changed around here in the last few years. More and more idiots are moving here, doing stupid shit, and I honestly hate the weather. I cannot stand the humidity. When I went to CO, and I was outside shooting in a park at 94F not sweating, I was hooked. Snow doesnt bother me much either. I like having seasons, not from one extreme to the other like it is here. Plus the cost of my insurance goes wayyyyy down. I like the mountains, its a whole bunch of reasons. It's gotten really crowded here. and the LEO agencies out there pay considerably more, and have to deal with less. I would really like to start over new, and the main reason i'm coming out there is to get to know my dad. Decisions made by my parents when I was very young prevented me from getting to know him, and I'd like to make up for lost time.

Welcome to the CSC S/B.
We have a lot of transplants from the Tragic Kingdom out here.
I envy you guys for the 12 month riding/golf season but the canyon runs and mountain twisties out here more than make up for the couple month of downtime.
(Except for this winter maybe, but it's been an exceptionally bad one.):cold:
I have family in Ft. Walmart Beach and friends in Mouse-town, Mihamy, New Smurfa Beach, Key Bisquick, and Waste Palm Beach that I've visited.
I only really liked the panhandle though.

Guess I should've looked. I thought it was the V-Strom, which is ugly as hell. Thats a good looking bike... My dealership didnt carry them though went I went to get the 109. They have one now, I sat on it this morning. Very Nice.. fits too. I may consider that before the 14..... and it's 3k cheaper... :vader:
