HOLY CRAP that took me way to long....

Anyways, its back together with a decent but cheap paint job (read: fancy primer) and runs. However, and maybe you guys can help me out here, after running for a minute or two (temperature doesn't seem to matter cause it did it cold and warm) it starts to smoke a bit out of the air intake tubes (its like a gray smoke) and has a semi strong burning smell.

Now, what I'm wondering, is this related to the fact that the bike really hasnt been run in about 6 months (since I wrecked it) and has been just sitting. I dont think its bad gas as any gas has been worked through it (you can see the gas can I filled up not 10 minutes before I took the picture).

Any ideas? I'd just run the thing for a while to see if whatever it is works its way out, but I"m fearful that I'll wind up breaking something and having to spend MORE to get it back running.

Also, a big thanks to Beotch for the turn signals (I know they arent on in the picture, I'm waiting till the bike is running right before I button it all up)

Hell yeah, looks like you did a nice job! 1 thing with that primer for paint, you are gonna want to cover any surfaces that you would rub on, tank by the seat and where your knees touch. It will get really glossy there and look different than the rest of the paint. Get a clear tank pad and soem clear tape for the tank sides.

Good work!

I'll do that, though truth be told, I'm not to concerned about it. The paint that's on there is just there to hold me over till I can save up some money and either get the bike painted (properly) or do it myself.

Thanks

What did you use on the frame to get the nice satin finish? That is not the stock finish is it? Looking to do something to my Hawk frame other than polish it.

^ Thats exaclty what mine looked like.

And the frame came that way, but I'm sure there are some compounds and such that you can get to do it.
