I got this e-mail from Kristi (Matts G-friend) and wanted to pass it along since he has a couple friends on the board that probably aren't on his e-mail list. I'm going to stop by the hospital tonight to give him some shit, and to see how he's doing.
I wanted to let you all know that today while we were up snowboarding Matt had a terrible fall and fractured his femur up in his hip area. He had surgery tonight and it went much better than originally expected. They had to put in a rod the length of his femur held in with some screws. He is expected to make a full recovery, but for now is stuck here in the hospital. He is at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver room 445. It is off 6th ave and Sheridan basically. They expect him to be released on Wed morning and maybe sooner hopefully! I know he would love to have visitors. Please feel free to call him on his cell. Please also pass this along to those I have missed. I will be here in the hospital with him the entire time but would love to see you guys too! (sorry Molly about your bday...)
Love you all and please feel free to call me too if you want!

UPDATE:
I saw Matt last night for a couple hours and he's doing very well considering the extents of his injuries. He actually might have the chance to go home today, so if you were thinking of stopping by the hospital to see him you should call ahead to make sure he's still there.
He's moving around pretty well with a walker and should have crutches today. I think everyone is surprised how well he's doing and he seems pretty upbeat considering the circumstances.

When somebody goes to see him, hit his femur for me, and tell him I'm thinkin' about him.
I just texted to let him know it's coming.
Ouch.

Dang, if I had only seen this earlier!
I went and saw him @ lunch and he seems to be in good spirits. He can actually move his leg around, which I thought was amazing since it only happened yesterday. He's supposed to take pictures when they change the dressing, so I'll post those up if he remembers to sind them. :D

I'm going to stop by tonight, and take some pics, and laugh, and laugh some more. I will make sure to babysit the R6 until the doc feels riding a motorcycle is advisable. :)

Good afternoon everyone!
I wanted to jump on quickly to say thank you all for the words of encouragement. I am in a lot of pain but that is to be expected. I broke my femur right below the joint up near the hip. They had to put in 2 steel rods with 4 screws to hold them in. I am expected to be limitedly mobile for the next 2-3 months, depending on how I heal of course. I was allowed to come home yesterday to encounter all the new challenges of my apartment. Stairs, stairs stairs. My right leg is swelling quite well as is my left now. The bruising is quite amazing! I will try and get some new pics of it over the next few days. I have attached below the current ones Kristi took at the hospital.
Thank you all who have stopped by and said hi, and for the get well wishes you send. If anyone wants to swing in and say hi I will be cooped up in my apartment for the next few weeks, no driving etc...
I live at 9530 E. Florida Ave, Denver, CO 80246. Basically right down the road from Caldonia's.
Hope I can get out riding again here soon!

P.S. I know I look dead sexy in a hospital gown.

Some Updated photos for you all :)
Going to the doctor's tomorrow to get my stitches/staples out.
Trying to get back to normal life again, but still difficult as some of you know.
Edit- If you look in the first photo you will see that screw is actually sticking out past the bone... it hurts already....
