Need a Bike for photoshoot Thursday at 1 in Boulder

The shoot will be at 1pm or so....

Actually one ?? really quick. I can't shop a $10k DSLR right now. So should I start with an older 35mm with a good lens set to get started? I am getting another Canon power shot point and shoot just for regular stuff, but for practice, I would like a good, older starter SLR.

Start with a cheaper Digi SLR. Sony, Minolta, Fuji, etc... they're all making the now. Mine was only about $1000 (not quite 10k). But then again, it is a couple of years old. I should check for a firmware upgrade...

You could score an older Nikon FE2 for $100-$150 on E Bay if your patient. You could also get into a Nikon F3 for $400 or so. I have an F3, great camera, top end 20 years ago. I've also had an FE2, great starter or back up camera.
Most film cameras can be had for little $ cause everybody is going digi. Learn the basics first, ie: exposure, composition, lighting.

Definately take Kendo up on his offer and tag along you'll learn tons.
