Just saw it on fox news...but don't see any reference to it on any news sites yet.
To summarize... 3 bikes speeding and doin wheelies at Mississippi and I-225. One rider t-bones a car, and his two buddies stop to see what happened, then rode off. Didn't even check on the downed rider. I didn't catch whether the rider died or not.
All I could catch from the video was that it looked like a blue Yami, it was so banged up I couldn't tell much more from the news video. That, and a plain black helmet layin on the ground.
Anybody else catch more of this?

I was leaving the home depot and must have been just minutes after it happened. The bike was on the SE corner and a red car was further down by the burger king that looked like someone had tried to rip the top off. There were already 2 Aurora cop cars there.
I didn't see any white sheets and as the Fire/ambulance arrived, they shooed me off to get traffic moving.

I saw the story too, but that didnt clarify clearly who passed away, sucked that the riders "buddies" would take off :(

Seems that the rider down has some very good close friends that were with him/her. I hope that his/her stupidiness didn't get someone else hurt in the other vehicle.

AURORA -- A motorcyclist is dead Sunday after broadsiding a car while doing a high-speed wheelie in Aurora Sunday. Missisppi has been closed from Blackhawk to Sable.
Witnesses say a group of three motorcycle riders had been driving down city streets at high rates of speed and doing stunts when the accident occurred.
Police say it appears that the man was running a red light when he hit the side of a car at Blackhawk and Mississippi. The woman driving the car was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
Witnesses report that the other riders the man appeared to be riding with stopped, looked at the crash and then fled the scene.
Police are looking for those men.

Amen to that. No ride is so good that its worth trading all your future ones for. And, yeah, Paulie, get on back here. You're missing too much fun, bro.

No matter how, who, what, or where things like this happen, you cant but feel some sorrow to him and his family. Stupid, yes. But does that not make him someones son, brother, or father maybe?
We have all done stupid things in our lives that could have put us in the same place, so why judge someone else? He threw the dice, he lost this roll.
I am sure quite a few of us can say we have rolled those dice quite a few times.

I'm not a callous person generally, but I tend to not feel sorry for people who remove themselves from the gene pool in spectacularly stupid ways.
Do I feel sorry for the guys family? Sure, it's very hard to lose a loved-one.
Do I feel sorry for the guy that killed himself? Absolutely not. He was riding a wheelie and blew a red-light, damn near killing someone else. Probably wearing full-on squid gear too.
When I say RIP for someone it's because I feel sad for that person and a small part of me feels a loss for the motorcycling community, or sadness at the untimely death of someone. But, when I read a story like this I don't feel any sadness, nor any loss to the motorcycling community. If anything I feel like there's one less moron on the road to endanger my life and the lives of people I care about.
Nobody deserves to die, but seriously, what do you expect to happen when your riding a stand-up wheelie through busy intersections?

I'm sad for the kids friends and family, having gone to more then my share of funerals, the sadness at this kids will be just the same...
HOWEVER.... I have no sympathy for the lost rider and his so called friends, there is a time and a place for everything, multiple passes down a busy street doing stand up wheelies is definitely not the right time or place...
I posted a link to a thread from last year discussing a similar situation, kids doing wheelies, run from the cops, blows a read light, T-bones a car, dies on the scene, so called friend runs.....
Squidly is as Squidly does I guess....

Hope the driver's alright.
Wish the rider RIP.
Hope the other two get busted.
What the hell were they thinking?
You can get killed doing the speed limit and having the right-of-way along that stretch, let alone speeding, stunting, and running a light.
(Though it's kinda poetic, that's right across from Planned Parenthood Aurora. Just consider it a retroactive abortion due to inherent mental birth defects.)

+1 Brian. I feel for the friends and family of this guy, but life is all about choices and consequences. Had he chosen to practice his wheelies in a deserted industrial area, he might have missed dinner because he was in jail, but he'd have been home by breakfast. Instead, his family is left to mourn and pick up the pieces.....

taken from 9 news:
AURORA – Police have released the name of a motorcycle rider killed Sunday afternoon.
Aurora Police say 38-year-old Edmund Myers of Aurora was traveling east on East Mississippi Avenue about 3:42 p.m. Sunday. Police say at the same time, 24-year-old Francisca Garcia was turning south onto South Blackhawk Street from westbound East Mississippi Avenue. Police say the motorcycle hit Garcia's Oldsmobile during the turn.
Myers was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic investigators are still determining who was at fault. On Sunday, police said it appeared speed was a factor.

so another left turn takes a rider out, damn. so if she's making a left turn, then shouldn't she have been yielding to oncoming traffic? technically he would have had the right of way, hmm wonder how this one is going to turn out.

Actually one of the things that the PD said was that determining the speed of the motorcyclist would show who was at fault. If the rider was traveling at an excessive speed then it may remove the fault of the turning vehicle.

Take it from me....it doesn't.
I always thought the need for speed was backwards.
First you have young kids tearing around town at breakneck speeds.
I mean where the hell do they really have to go?
They've got no clue, no money, nothing important to manking to accomplish,
and 60+ years to do whatever the hell they need to do.
Then there's old people driving 25 mph on the left lane of the highway.
The God damned Grim Reaper is sitting in the passanger seat ready to collect 'em up
and they're taking three hours to go the 12 blocks to Albertsons.
WTF?
I think that you should be able to drive/ride your age or the speed limit (whichever is greater) at any time.
Kids would gradually increase their speed as they accumulated more experience, and old people like me whould
be able to get where we need to go before our ticket get's punched for the big dirt nap.

interesting, i didn't know that they could do things like that. i assumed that despite his reckless driving and disregard for the speed limit if someone is making a left turn then it's their responsibility to make sure that they have a good clear turn.

Depending on the situation, sometimes it is hard to gauge the speed of a bike. If she came up to an intersection where speed limit is 40 and does see the bike down a ways, pulls out into her left hand turn.... well, we know what will and has happened to the rider especially at possible high speed. "If" he was doing a wheelie, then it's much harder to spot the bike....

ahh gotcha, i didn't think about the visibility if the guy is doing a wheelie, and i believe around that time it was raining/sprinkling (though i was up north around that time) so that would have made visibility even harder add in excessive speed.
well i'm sure it'll get figured out.
