I think it was just that guys time to go.
It looks like he would of been hit anyway, accident or not.
As if there was a back up death plan for him just to make sure...weird.

Just to ease people's mind, he apparently did make it.
I read on another forum (cycleforum) about this and it apparently happened in Ohio. All parties lived including the pedestrian.
