View Full Version : "Sorry baby, I had to crash that Honda"

Bummer.
I crashed going to the DTC lunch on Friday. Pretty low speed making a right turn into the parking lot. It was off camber over the cement wash that was filled with water and sand.
The front end stepped out on me and I thought I was going to save it when it regained traction, but the rear end decided it wanted to pass me by and down I went on the lowside.
100% my fault for not being aware of the conditions of the road and adjusting my speed accordingly. Had it been dry I would've had no problems at all and not be writing this post.
I'm fine, just a minor scrape to the pride.
The bike, unfortunately, did not fair so well. The damage that I can see so far:
1) Rt-side lower is pretty rashed up
2) Upper is done and will have to be replaced
3) Exhaust and/or midpipe is bent
4) Front fender is cracked in half
5) Rt fork looks like it might be bent.
6) Expected other damage on that side - Mirror, bar end, signal, frame slider, etc.
I'm sure there's other damage that I can't see. I'm planning on taking it to Faster for an estimate and then calling my ins company.
Oh well, such is life...

Wow! Sorry to hear, Brian. I know it sucks big time and making that call to insurance really sucks...grrr. But, oh well (as you say) such is life.
Now would everyone else please stop with the crashing! Sheesh! You'd think it was a fad or sumpin'.
Oh, I'll be waiting another 3 days to hear about the appraisal on my bike. I'm thinking about doing a shopping trip soon...hmmmm.

Yes, thanks for bumming us all out with this at lunch on Friday (j/k). Actually, it's stories like this that really freak me out. Low speed parking lot stuff and it still does all this damage. I'm just glad you weren't hurt.

That's the truly important point, Brian, but I know it sucks to see the bike rashed like that. At least the frame didn't snap in half. :)

It may not be long, but it's as wide as a can of corn. And I will scrape the sides trying.
I guess a new bike may be in my future.

Sorry B. At least we got to enjoy your company at lunch. :) Sooo not your fault (yes it was) but that kind of thing can happen to anybody skilled or not.
If I can help in any way I would if I could.

Id be surprised if you bent a fork in a low speed low side. It probably just got tweaked in the triples.

It's a Honda. It will drive itself to the shop and fix itself overnight with no help from anyone!.
The way you rode that thing a Pueblo I think it should be your primary track bike Brian :)

Bummer man, glad you're ok though. I think we as a club have dodged a few bullets lately. Heal up and get 'er shiny again.

Amazing how you can go nearly as much damage in the parking lot as you can on the highway.
Let me know what the estimate comes out to and what the insurance company offers if you file.
