View Full Version : info needed - orange 'tard, squaw pass, sunday

I could use some help...
trying to find out who was on an orange motard going up Squaw Pass on Sunday between 11 and 11:20 am. This sorry excuse for a human being blew his line and crossed over into my lane, stopping in the middle as I was coming down around a lefthand curve. I ended up lowsiding as I had to swerve around the motherfucker to avoid a head on collision. Missed the asshat by less then a foot but the left hand curve combined with a right hand swerve and trying to bring the bike back under control was too much and I binned it. I spent the day in the hospital - the motard bolted, didn't even stay to see if I fucking survived the crash.
Yes, I want to find this motherfucker. I could've forgiven the blown line and the fact that he stopped in the middle of my fucking lane...what I can't forgive is him fleeing the scene. A fellow rider, wtf? Now my bike is fucked and my knee is fucked and he bailed, what a worthless piece of shit. And yes, he knew he just caused an accident, he was stopped in the damn road and I coulda headbutted him, it was that close a miss.
I was damn lucky - going the right speed, good lane position, full gear, great riding buddy ahead of me (whom the motard barely missed taking out him out prior to me and he got to witness the whole thing in his mirrors). I landed on my helmet right above the visor and my left knee then flipped onto my right side and slid just over 50 ft into/through a dirt/rock ditch. Thanks to the helmet I am here typing, thanks to the full leathers I didn't have even a bit of road rash and thanks to the knee armor - I still have a knee although it sure as hell doesn't resemble one at the moment. Now I also have bike repair, gear replacement, ambulance, hospital, pharmacy and possibly orthopedic surgery (won't know for a few days) bills. Way to ruin a day.
I was extremely lucky considering the shape I could be in but the next rider this guy encounters may not be. So if anyone can provide some information regarding identification of this loser, I'd appreciate it.

Wholly shit. So sorry he caused you to crash. That is freaking crazy that he took off.
I personally have stopped for down riders to help before (I did not cause the accident). I could not imagine just riding off, especially if I caused the wreck.
Sorry to hear of your injuries and you bike. Glad you were not hurt worse.
I will keep an eye out for this guy.
So Orange Motard KTM?

Sorry to hear about your incident. Glad you are here to search out the spineless piece of sh!t that didn't even have the courtesy to man up and help a fellow rider in an accident that he created. Good luck!

Get well honey. I'd be pretty livid too. Just heal up. :)

Glad you're alright!
When I read the subject and saw 'orange tard' I thought of Bueller, but then I read your story and am 100% sure that wasn't him since he's a better rider, and would have stayed to help. Hopefully you figure out who it was, though there are enough 'tard riders out there that it may never happen without some additional description (color of gear, etc).

I know how quickly get-offs can happen but do you have any other info on this rider?
For example, headlight shape (lots of aftermarket conversions out there) the square ones are usually stock, gear style/color, bike size, 1 muffler or 2 etc...
We have enough moto riders on this board that with a decent description I bet somebody would recognize this fucker.

I'd like to help you with that, Jeff. Deb, sorry you have to deal with that kind of irresponsible behavior. It'll probably be tough unless someone got the guy's plate number. Post up if you need help with the bike.
Hey, now we can swap "avoiding people stopped on the line" stories. http://www.boulder.swri.edu/%7Eterrell/images/goofy.gif

Sucks that happened, I'm glad that you were wearing your gear and will make it out in one piece.
And fuck that guy on the 'tard, he is a 'tard. Another case of people not taking responsibilities for their actions. I hope that one day karma kicks him in his vagina. :guns:

Bat,
So sorry to hear about your off. :( As said before the person causing this will get theirs three fold in the future. I hope you heal up quickly and everything turns out for the better.
you might also want to post this on ADVRider.com in the Rocky's section. They know everyone with a bike over there. You might also want to hit ktmtalk.com and sport-touring.net.
Whew I am glad I don't have an orange tard. :|

Last year it was some Harley riders running wide coming up Bear Creek and into my lane on one of the blind corners. Each one just followed the next as the leader was going too fast and not on his line.
I'll keep an eye out for this one. Glad you are up and typing. It is getting kinda tough for the northern riders. Perhaps you should all go in on a set of crutches- j/k. I hope someone is able to come up with who this was.

No it sure as hell wasn't Bueller, I was lowsiding my tard on the trails at Rampart to avoid a headon with a dumbfuck going too fast on the bar trail.
Sorry to hear this Bat, everyone I know on a KTM is race only setup.

Very Sorry to hear about the accident and glad you are OK or at least weren't hurt any worse.
Was the rider East or West bound. You might check to see if they have any cameras down by the Interstate or one of the other main roads. Then the tard could have gone off road too. Might be worth your while to check w/ CSP or CDOT to see if they have any footage in the time lines from the direction he/she was traveling.

If they do, they're only going to release it to law enforcement under a subpoena - not to someone looking to settle a grudge. ;)

Fleeing the scene of an accident is a felony is it not? They just might be interested.
Then comes the civil suit bitch.:hump:

Bat, that really does suck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
All the supermoto riders I have met on this board definitely would not have fled the scene, I don't think that rider is on this board. Hopefully you can find out who it was, unfortunately it's very doubtfull that you will.

Thanks everyone...unfortunately, I can't even tell you what color gear the rider was wearing. And yeah, I knew it wasn't Bueller - he could have just killed me back on my first track day in 2006 instead of blindsiding me now, lol. ;) Seriously, he helped me out a lot that day (and took off those damn peg feelers) so please know I wasn't talking about our riders. My only hope posting here was that someone might have heard the unknown rider in question talking or know of a rider heading that way at that time. I know my chances are slim to none. :(
As for me, I am on Percocet (my undying gratitude to whoever came up with that as I feel like screaming when it wears off) and status on my knee is still tbd. Ultrasound and MRI yesterday and I am currently flat on my back and in a brace that feels bigger than me. Will hopefully find out tomorrow how long before I am back on two wheels.
I haven't been able to inspect the ninjette and my good friend is taking the "forget about the bike atm, let's fix you" line but he did say it looks good as in no major/unfixable damage. My 80's style bike - she takes a licking and keeps on kicking, lol.

Except without actually being in the accident, it's really difficult to get that charge to stick. And he was technically not in an accident, even though his actions caused it.

Bat,
I can't really do anything to help fix you at this time other than think good thoughts , but now that you are an Arvadian if there is anything I can do to help with the bike let me know. I am not volunteering to rebuild it for you but would be more than happy to help out on some things if needed. The garage is a bit full now however.
Cheers.
