my mom can but some translation can be kinda hard, plus she's in New Jersey so it'd have to be over the phone and if you need something written she'd have to mail it to you, lol.

I've been told my wife is Korean & that she speaks Korean.... It's all French to me!!!!!
She does teach @ the Korean Cultural Center. If you're looking for a couple beginner books I can probably hook you up.
I also have the Korean learning CD's... One is the complete set.
For quick translator... Widgets or Gidgets from MAC/Windows
If that's what you're looking for shoot me a call... 480.323.1271 (W)

I've used this tool quite a few times. It's not always perfect, but it does the job!

Korean characters are really hard...most will not be one character like chinese does
Ex. Like chinese has a symbol for love or harmony.. KOrean will be two plus for the word...
What did you want it to say?
Suki
Thu Aug 30th, 2007, 08:51 AM
plus, take into account that it will also read differently to some, different dialects or something.
My bf's tat on his back is some saying about being watched over until his last breath or something, anyways he wrote it out and gave it to my mom. She told us it wouldn't be exactly word for word, because some of it doesn't translate, and to show what she meant she translated it and also had a few friends translate it and also had a couple different pastors from a Korean learning center translate it, Just to see how much it would differ.
For the most part, it remained the same, but even betwen 4-5 different people it came out a little different (they each translated from the same paper he gave her).
So, keep that in mind also. What you get tat'd may say what you want but to someone else may be like "dude, your tat makes no sense."

so there isn't one main dialect?
Suki
Thu Aug 30th, 2007, 09:07 PM
i guess it's kinda like with spanish. people straight out of mexico understand and speak a certain way, but people that take it in school learn i guess the more (and i can't think of the exact word i'm thinking of) "educated" way???
if you're going to put a saying on you in a different language then it's not going to be EXACTLY what you want it to say. the Korean alphabet doesn't have 26 letters like the english alphabet, sooo yeah, it's not going to translate exactly the same.

thats why just tat a picture on you and pic out the coolest looking character you can find, and when some one ask what does that say, you tell them what ever the fuck you want to say...hahaha
