Ladies have you thought about racing in the MRA but had reservations concerning the grid? Would you feel more comfortable having an additional option to race on a female only grid?
MRA Licensed Ladies this would be alot of fun to get us all of out there together to participate - please show your support this class has a future - lets make it happen!

This proposal will be presented to the MRA board and members on Thursday (Today) October 11, 2007, please be there if you can with your participation and representation at tonights meeting it will move on to get voted on in November.

SCOPE
Proposal: Ladies of the Rockies (LOR) Amateur class for female racers.

1. Rider Eligibility
- Must be Female (Sex change operations will be considered with documentation from physician)
- Valid MRA Racing License
- Novice / Expert Combined

2. Motorcycle Eligibility
- Motorcycles are of unrestricted origin.
- Unlimited displacement, engine configurations and modifications

3. Schedule Solutions
- Race to be run as the second wave of a two-wave start with Lightweight GP.
- No change to already established Race Day schedule.

BENEFITS
1. Incentive for new female racers to join and participate with the MRA
- Seeing a small, well-organized class just for women has a strong potential to draw new racers into the organization.

2. Increased participation from existing membership
- Current female members would have an additional class to register and compete in that does not conflict with classes that any females are currently racing in.

3. No impact to the race day schedule
- Class would be run behind Lightweight GP and would not impact the current schedule in any way.

Full Proposal is on the MRA Rules & Tech Forum

The MRA ran a "Ladies Class" in the mid-90's, til the number of women dwindled down to just a couple of us. I always thought it was a good thing, one more class to run during the race day. Plus we had a fabulous "anonymous" sponsor who put up a cash purse for every weekend.

Would be great to see it brought back. :)

Maybe FM would sponsor this class! They did do that ladies track day with Moriah.

From MRA website...Reminder!

On November 3rd at high noon, we'll have the Rule Change Committee meeting at Breck Brew in the usual meeting room. We'll discuss the changes and take votes on the recommendations. If you can't make that meeting, you can vote ahead of time by posting to the R&T forum or emailing me (Jim Brewer, MRA Rules Guru) at jjb@bigstickracing.com (jjb@bigstickracing.com).

Finally, at the Nov 12th board meeting, we'll ratify the proposed changes. I'll make another post that week summarizing the changes.

Sasha did such a great job on her proposal for a womens race class (Ladies of the Rockies) that we will now have a race class for women in 2008. Comon girls...if you have thought about racing, this is your chance to get out and race with other women.

If you are not sure how to get started, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. 2007 was my first year racing and I had such a great time that I can't wait for the 2008 season especially with another class to race in.

:headbang: Rock ON to Sasha for a great idea.

Even better is the support that this gathered from the MRA in general. There were over 20 people at the rule change meeting yesterday and the suggestion for this class got unanimous support, there was no dissent at all. It took all of about 18 seconds for this to get approved.

Can't wait for 08! I know which race I'll be watching...
