It was a little slick on they way in this morning. Left about 6:00 and took 30 minutes to get here to the Tech Center. Main roads were pretty clean but when I hit A-Paho and Quebec I got to have some fun sliding. Quebec all the way to Bellview was CRAP!! DTC BlVD was also a joke. When you have a road, named after your entire community, you need to take care of that road.

Also decided that it is time to take the tinted visor off the helmet and put the clear one on. Riding in the dark, over ice, with a smoked visor is not too cool.

I head north from Broomfield to Longmont. No black ice or anything. The temp did drop to 23.7 per my onboard temp gauge (it has a min/max temp reading).

On the plus side, my Gerbing's + heated grips kept my hands and fingers nice and toasty all the way in. Generally the tip of my middle finger gets numb when it gets colder as does my thumb. This morning my thumb was slightly cold and the fingers were all warm.

I just need to get my lap blanket created and on the bike.

I was lucky enough not to get cold on the way in. I think I have the right gear for this upcoming winter :)

I am debating putting some different tires on the bike to handle the slippery conditions better. Do they make a Blizzak for sportbikes?

OEM tire for the Buell Ulysses.... just add some ice screws and the CBR becomes an all weather vehicle...

How tough to add the screws? Will they last me all winter? I have no problem tossing on another set of tires/wheels or when the weather is nice.

Good ice screws are about 6 cents each. It might be tough to get them into a street tire and make a good seal, though. The real drawback is that they aren't real durable on pavement, and the handling just SUCKS unless they have something to bite on like snowpack or ice....

just get some barbed wire and wrap it around your tire when its bad dana.. :) that should work. Be careful where you put the barbs though :)

lol, I was looking at the snow chains they make for bikes. Might give them a try this winter.
