As I have announced on the Job Board, I am the new GM with the U-Haul Super Center in Highlands Ranch. We are next to 470 between Broadway and University.

I am offering to the bike club one month free storage for members that wish to store their bikes and/or stuff with me. The winter months are coming up and two of my floors are climate controlled. Please ensure that your bikes are winterized for storage. All of my units are individually alarmed and enclosed. I am NOT ABLE to store boats or other such items on my lot.

Please give me a call should there be an interest. :hump:

What is the best way to reserve U-Haul stuff?

I went the online reservation route a few months ago. They wouldn't tell me the pick up location for my ramp trailer until the day before, even though I made the reservation a month+ in advance. Once I finally got through on the phone to get the pick-up location, they told me the only one available was is Greeley (I'm in Fort Collins).

There's at least 2 large U-haul places in Fort Collins, a bunch more small ones, and I found it lame that they had no ramp trailers for me. Had everyone beat me to the trailers with their reservations? Or did reservations made in the stores usurp my on-line one?

I ended up driving over to the local U-Haul store, and renting a motorcycle trailer instead of the generic ramp trailer because they had one on the lot. Luckily, I had the flexibility to make that swap, otherwise, I would have had to trek out to Greeley to pick it up. Of course, visiting the store meant standing in line for almost an hour behind people renting trucks--all of whom seemed to have some issue with money or driver's licenses, and some lady tring to claim free storage space she was entitled to from her truck rental a year ago in a different state.

Is there some secret way to beat the system? Or should I just expect the U-Haul run around every time?

No disrespect to your branch intended. And yes, I am to cheap and lazy to buy my own trailer.

I rent from your location occasionally. A while back, in preparation for the B track day, I asked the counter rep the deal on trailers. He suggested to reserve a month in advance. I checked out the enclosed versions and one could temporarily place a self-standing wheel chock, such as a Condor, in there, and secure it to the tie downs. Plenty of room for gear and one could even sleep overnight in the smaller trailer.

I would have picked one up for the track day, but I had soon found out that I was to be in CA working the International Motorcycle Trade shows. Looking back, I should have just put one on reserve knowing someone could have used it.

Oh, and the trailer was only $20 a day, that is pretty reasonable.

I do apologize for your pain, but the system is setup for us to call you after you have made a reservation with us. Bike trailers are popular and very heavily used. Mine currently is at the Service Center being repaired.

If someone needs something in the future, just go online and find a location nearest you. Call them up and see what they have available, not all stores carry the same equipment.
