I was watching the news tonight and when they did a segment on the food drive, I was reminded of a time in my life, not too long ago, when things were pretty rough for me and my kids.

It was only a couple of months after my divorce was final three years ago and I was saved from foreclosure when my real estate agent sold my house the day before it was slated to go on the auction block. After that, she proceeded to buy my kids school supplies for the year, because my ex wasn't keeping up with child support. Even though I managed to take on a second job working 11-hour shifts on the weekends, by Christmas time, the staff of my school had taken up a collection and put the money in my mail box anonymously. It didn't take me long to learn who had done that and after weeping in the secretary's office for a bit, I caught the man responsible in the hallway and hugged him for all he was worth.

I've got plenty of tales of life's blindsides to last me a lifetime and I know I will have more. I also know I'm not the only one who has had her share of ups and downs. This year, I'm very fortunate to be in the position I'm in and am happy to be able to give back.

And, let me tell you, it feels a whole lot better to give than to receive...although the emotion is a whole lot stronger when on the receiving end.

^bump

Saturday's gonna be a really nice day with weather, so get the grocery stuff first, then enjoy a ride.:hump:

I think they will also be taking clothing and toys. Not sure, but check the website.

My 10-year-old did a bang up job cleaning her room this week and found some toys for donating. If anything, we can take them to Goodwill.
