So, on my ride with YellowBullet and DuckSTer coming back down hwy34 on Friday, we came up on slowed traffic, cars pulled off to the side of the road and a BigHorn Sheep grazing just below a rock cliff...kinda like this...

It happened again today right around the same time, 3:00 p.m., but this time, I was caging it with my youngest daughter. And this time, the big guy brought some friends along. If you're coming up on hwy34 going to Estes, I'd watch it on this turn. As you can see, these sheep probably came right down the rock cliff on the north side. Notice all the rocks in the road?

Thanks for the heads up man. A buddy and I were about to head up to Estes today but decided against it and just cut off at Lyons.

Yeah, and 5 miles up into the canyon was a Sheriff sitting on the south side of the road. I had just left daemon, KoryBricker and CanAm at the Conoco and thought, "Uh oh...knowing daemon..." Anyway, I absolutely loooove hwy7...mhmm.
Oh, and um...not like I'm into correcting peeps, but I'm not a man...tee hee.;-)

Ah yes. I think if there were no people on the side of the road, we could have scared the crap out of him, and he would have jumped in the road. Right in front of me, being in the back and all.

We caught a state patrol rolling north on 36 just as we got going towards boulder. When we pulled up there was a group of guys, and a lady rider at the Conoco station, they took off east though. As mmy buddy and I were trying to figure out where to go a group of 4 guys pulled in from the west on some Ducatis and I really wanted to go take one :hump: haha...
Oh...hmm... Sorry ma'am... lol

NP...YellowBullet thinks it's funny when I get mistaken for a guy on this forum. To tell ya the truth, so do I.;) Oh, but funnier still is when I roll up to a group ride where not many ppl know me. I love it.

Sheep. Man, this just begs for the Jeff's and the Dana's of the world to toss in the usual round of sheep jokes.
Excellent pictures. Those little buggers can hide right on the side of the road.

I would have, but unfortunately we usually don't get great acceptance from sport bike riders when we are out riding up that way. I will have to keep an eye out for some more of you guys, everybody seems pretty friendly on here.
I can usually be spotted with the "Speed Freak" patch on my vest (nobody else has one like it that I know of);

"Friendly"? Who said anything bout friendly? I mean, just try and get YB to smile...sheesh. j/k I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you try out this place maybe once...at least once...http://www.motohauscoffee.com/ I know it's a ways from Arvada, but the peeps who hang out there on Thursday nights for bike night are all types of riders and they're a really friendly bunch. Oh and Max is starting up with his movie nights again on Thursdays as the air is getting chillier, and everyone seems to come inside instead of hanging outside as they do during summer.
BTW, I came up on more BigHorn sheep again today as I was out and about on the Zed. This time, there was a whole fricken heard of 'em a little closer to Drake on hwy34. Came around a blind corner and cages were parked up and down the shoulder with peeps out gawking at the sheep. Luckily, I was hanging behind a group of cars and saw the brake lights, so I knew what to expect.

And another thing....The elk in an around Estes migrate up and down the hill depending on the temperature. In the heat of summer, you will rarely see them in town, let alone in the canyons. But as it gets cooler/cold they come down and hang in the canyons. How do I know? Drove the hwy 36 canyon daily for 11 years.

I feel as I'm part of this family with all the insults that I have been thrown at, or as many times as I get called out...
I know what you really want, Cathy :hump:

Sorry I didn't make it up Cathy, my granddaughter lost the keys to the car I loaned her and I had to dig up the spare and take it to her.
By the time I was done you guys had already headed out.
Did the Bear/Turkey/Deer creek loop and ran across a pod of elk tryng to cross 73.
Gunned that obnoxiously load Honda of Dana's and they nearly shit.
...the shocker is when the helmet comes off and the hair comes down...
My Hardly doesn't have the passanger seat on it and a friend commented that I won't get many women to ride the fender.
Told her women that ride their own bikes are hotter than dead weight on a peach pad.

LOL,
Damn canyon cop sheep fuckers.
REAL Mountain Men screw mountain goats....only flat landers do sheep.

Sorry I didn't make it up Cathy, my granddaughter (blah, blah, blah) lost the keys to the car I loaned her and (blah, blah, blah...) I had to dig up the spare and take it to her.
Sooo, Jeff? I still may need help prepping the Zed, but will tough it out with my service manual and some distilled water sometime this week...I hope.
Shoulda seen me put that wheel back on my bike...ha! Yeah, so Scott tells me to be sure to not put it on backwards and then I finish up with Gary's help Thursday evening and as he's leavning I kinda mention that yeah, Scott told me to sure to not put it on backwards. Gary says, yeah, cuz there's an arrow on the tire that points the direction it needs to go. I'm like, "There's an arrow on the tire?"
I tell ya, the second time around putting that tire on was a breeze....

Mmmmmmm, sheeeeppppp......
I've been actually pretty luck over the years. Aside from the suicidal one that tried to kill me and Jeff (N_N), I haven't had issues over the years.
