So, how do the roads look up in the Longmont area this morning? It's pretty clear here in Broomfield. I'm trying to decide whether to take the bike this morning or not.

(I'm out in about 20 minutes.)

Thanks.

I left Westminster, down 36, into downtown. Main roads were wet but not snowy. Side roads were snowy. Traffic said Hwy 25 up around Erie was bad.

All I know. I'd recommend caging. If not, Ride safe.

Yea the roads look lots worse the farther south you go. The snow looked like it came down from Ft Collins earlier this morning. Since it's pretty clear out front right now, and temps are reasonable, I was curious about Longmont. So far Longmont has typically been colder but if the snow isn't in my path, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Eh, it wasn't too bad. I took the Transalp in case I went down (it has a cage and is a dual-sport). Coming up Lowell at the Sheridan Parkway I had a slight slide but I was cautious the rest of the way.

On 287 after Erie (the little down hill part) there were two trucks off the road and in the ditch, one truck on the shoulder all banged up and a cop behind him. In the median there was a single SUV. On the left side there were two SUV/pickups in the guys driveway and a cop on the left shoulder.

Just before the bridge before the uphill part by Lookout Road there was an upside down car in the field to the left, doors open.

After Rt 52, the road got a little dicier but I was following a salt/sand truck so no problem. I made the turn at Niwot Road (now that was a little slick) and Niwot Road was a little slick too but I kept it slow and easy.

Turned on 95th street and puttered down at about 35mph. As I got into the 35mph zone, I noticed the car that was behind me had apparently slid into a ditch about 100 yards from the 35mph zone start.

At the newer set of townhouses/condos on the right just before 95th turned into Hover, the road cleared right up and was just wet. No problem getting the rest of the way in.

I did notice someone had parked their pickup truck in the Motorcycle Only parking area. I went upstairs and complained to the Security Guard :D

Hey, there's a fricking gigantic parking lot that's only 20% in use right now (generally up to 40% I think). No need to take spots specially designated for motorcycles :D

Still, it was a pretty cool ride in on the dual sport.

There was no two wheeling in Aurora this morning. Tower was a freakin' skating rink!

My typical 10 minute commute took over a half an hour this morning.

Yeah, the roads in that area get pretty slick for some reason. I've seen black ice there a lot.

It took me about an extra 10 minutes or so.

I've noticed the Niwot Road spot temperature so far is up to 25 degrees colder than right at 52. A couple of weeks ago I saw 54 degrees at 52 and around 24 degrees going down Niwot Road and 95th.

Glad the ride was safe. Must be a good feeling to see dumb (I know generalizing, but it's fun) SUV drivers in the ditches and you cruise on by on a bike.
