So in order to make my Roger Hayden tribute-replica ZX-10R I need to polish my swingarm. So I snapped up a swingarm off e-bay and now I need it media blasted to get the black powdercoating off.
Anyone know a reputable place? :)
Thanks in advance!

I'm not at the shop but I think its called "Blast Media" in Denver. I will check when I get in tomorrow and give you their number. They are super fast and super cheap. With the guns they have they can do a swingarm in a couple of minutes. Even if you have to ship it they're worth it!

Careful with what you use to get off the powder coating. Some media's will dent for a better word the soft aluminium and make polishing damn hard. I have heard baking soda is one of the best for removing paint and not damaging the metal.

+1...takes a while longer but leaves a nice smooth finish.
(And doesn't heat the metal up as much as sand, plastic beads, etc.)
I have a blasting gun if you want to borrow it, no cabinet though.
(Also there's several at Harbor Freight for dirt cheap.)
Chemical strippers might work too, never tried them on powder coated surfaces though.

If it'll fit in my cabinet, I can glass bead it. If you're going for a mirror finish, soda is probably the way to go.

Not "mirror" but something close to the above pic. I got some work for you to do anyway Jim so let me know what you think. :)

Blasting works well but it does leave fine pitting in aluminum even w/ really fine media.

DK, have you thought about using airplane stripper?

Airplane stripper's sound expensive, how the the ground stippers at Willy's work? :dunno:
No I never thought of taking a chemical stipper, I like the media blasted look, not shinny and a little rough. Then I can clear it and my Roger Hayden Reverse Replica begins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My suggestion... get it media blasted. Do it right the first time and don't worry about the mess of the do it yourself remedies.
I used to customize paintball markers and I can tell you first hand that removing powder coat w/ chemicals is a nasty pain in the ass process. Don't waste your time.
I called this guy a while back about de-chroming the ZX-14's stock exhaust and powder coating the pipes black. Seemed pretty kewl. May want to check w/ him.

Why not just buy a superbike swingarm. They you actually get the advantage of the swingarm design too.
