Virtela has a job opening for a Senior Product Engineer. This position will be working out of the Denver office. Below is a brief description of the job along with the job requirements:
The Product Engineer will perform testing of services, software, platforms and infrastructures for the deployment of new or updated communications, application, and security services. The Product Engineer is responsible for providing technical supports to Product Management team for developing new products with new IT technologies and applications. The Product Engineer also performs overlay Sales Engineer roles to help and train sales force for successfully selling new products and complex customer solutions. Will be the corporate Engineering resource to validate complex customer solutions for sales organizations.
Responsibilities:
ØWorking with product management for the creation and definition of new products and services and/or accepting and executing the development deliverables for new products/features from product management
ØClosely working with hardware/software vendors to identify hardware/software functions to be deployed in Virtela’s service infrastructure for new products or for meeting customer requirement.
ØIdentify methods that will be used to test how new product/feature meets each requested deliverable
ØIdentify all solutions/platforms/applications that will be tested
ØIdentify results of testing – include the completeness of how each solution tested met or failed to meet the deliverable
ØInclude any restrictions/limitations found (i.e. fully meets requirements but only stops working at 10Mb throughput)
ØProvide complete documentation, including recommendations
ØSupport field sales and support sales calls
ØVerify complex solutions for field sales and SEs.
ØKeep up with new IT technology development and apply it for creating new solutions, products, and services
Qualifications:
Ø5+ years experience in Telecom and MSSP market
ØWillingness to travel 20 - 30%
ØAbility to design an enterprise network independently
ØHands-on experience in Router, Firewall, IPS, SSL gateway, LAN Switches.
ØPrefer candidate comes from managed telecom service providers such as Infonet, Equant, Internap, and other consulting company.
ØProven history of designing and implementing large enterprise networking solutions
ØProven history of managing a large enterprise network and enterprise IT applications
ØKnowledge of the data networking / IP VPN technology and applications
ØUnderstanding of general telecommunication concepts – TDM, ISDN, Frame Relay/ATM, IP, etc.
ØUnderstanding of enterprise IT applications – firewall, virus scanning, user authentications, e-mail, remote access, database management, disaster recovering, hosting, VOIP, etc.
Experience and Education:
Ø7+ years experience in the telecommunications / data networking industry.
Ø4+ years experience in enterprise IT field
Ø2+ years experience in IP VPN (Preferred)
ØBS/BA (technical discipline preferred)
ØCCIA (Preferred)
