Go to Apple store. Buy iPhone. Google how to unlock it cause it just isn't that hard.
Then marvel at your iBrick the next time Apple releases a software update.

but keep in mind a few things about this iphone
1. you cannot change your #, the phone comes with a number and cant be changed
2. with the plan (which their is only specific iphone plans) your lookin at an easy 135 a month charge on top of the price of the phone which right now is 399.00 with a 2 year agreement otherwise i think its 499 or 599
3. starting monday they are doing some new crap to the iphone which is costing more money
honestly i would go with one of the new (iphone killers) they are coming out with right now or wait till things calm down with the iphone.
If you want in depth details id be glad to grab some more info at work tomorrow and share it with you as to why not to get this phone.
P.S.- you need the iphone sim card to run the phone right, if you run your sim out of your old phone it could fry the iphone or certain data features will not work.
(think about this which is funny, you pay 400 minimum for the iphone, it cost apple $3 and thats not a mistype yes $3 to make the phone)

#2. You are wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong. I just bought mine on 12/02/2007, and currently have a plan that is less than that. All you do is add $20 to whatever plan you want. Cheapest is $39.99 (so it would be $59.99) with iphone data.

I do believe that you work for AT&T, due to the fact that your sales pitch is not only bad, but is also full of fallacies.
1) The phone Number can be changed at any time and it does not come with a phone number that is unique to the phone. I have had my number for several years with several carriers and not a single problem "porting" from phone to phone. In fact, I have gone through a few different iPhones from software bugs on the first batch with the same number. It is like any other phone with an external SIM card, it can follow you from phone to phone.
2) The iPhone plan is $20 extra a month, for unlimited internet use, and I believe 200 SMS's.
3) Wrong. The latest software upgrade was on 1.15.08, and like all of the other upgrades they were free.
4) "iPhone Killers"? Seriously, there is (as of yet), no iPhone killer. The competition have been scrambling to get a product out there and in that process have only come up with the typical assortment of clunky UI's.
5) It does not cost Apple $3 to manufacture the phone...http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphones/iphone-only-costs-250-to-make-rest-of-price-is-fanboy-tax-229664.php
If you hate the iPhone then that is your option and you can freely state that fact. But to give false statements of features-or lack of them- with a horrible sales pitch behind it, is frankly foolish on your part as an AT&T employee.

Just out of curiosity, what about the blackberry 8320, i think that's the wifi one...how does it compare to the iphone.

I like the Black Berry (good Canadian company  ). Good overall UI's and a great E-mail application. I don't like there lack of a build quality and some of their phones have low sound quality. The iPhone suffered from this sound issue the first two months, but one of the software updates corrected this issue and now the sound/call quality is excellent.
That is one of the greatest qualities of the iPhone; software updates. The ability for new features and upgrades are as simple as a software upgrade, which occur about once every two months and are free.

FWIW you can transfer your number to an iPhone and vice versa if you ever get something else. Number portability is a universal requirement for all cell providers in the United States, per FCC rules. AT&T would face major fines if they prevented that from working with the iPhone.

I have the LG VX10000 aka The Voyager. I've played with the iPhone and imo this phone leaves the iPhone in the dust. With a little bit of hacking the Voyager smokes the iPhone completely.
A couple of the biggest factors are:
Voyager has evdo internet connection anytime - iphone needs a wifi hotspot for high speed.
Voyager has expandable memory - iPhone does not.
Voyager has a full QWERTY keyboard - iPhone does not.
The list goes on, and I'd say the iPhone has been killed.
Here's the CNET review

Blackberry Perl, do you really need to be more connected than that? You should be out on the bike !

No, iphone can use AT&T's data network for this just like the Voyager on Verizon. Verizon's EVDO is quite a bit faster than AT&T's, however.

Bestest solution: Kill your cellphone. Am I the only person old enough here to remember when I wasn't connected to the whole friggin planet 24/7/365? THIS is the single most convincing reason to ride a motorcycle: I can ignore my friggin phone for most of an hour each way to and from work!

And will be even faster when it goes to Rev A, if it hasn't already been done by now. Both, Sprint and Verizon's EVDO data networks, are superior to AT&T's.

Correct. But at a very slow speed as the iPhone is not 3g capable. It needs a wifi hot spot for high speed.

The HTC Mogul is pretty cool...EVDO REV A or Wi-Fi. Pick your poison. However, like you'll get on practically any new gadget, the reviews are mixed.

Well buying the phone from the apple store- They say I cannot leave the store w/o activating it.
I've also been told apple &/or ATT is cracking down and can disable (via internet) the phone if you run a non ATT sim. I just want a darn phone that can stream vids online! The guys at the t-mobile store told me something about its a 3g network or ? and t-mobile gets it in August.
I have a Dash, it sucks balls and since I have a mac I cant run the software to update it to windows mobile 6.0. My gf has att and gets deals from her work so I might just add a line with her and take some shit att phone, then take it to the apple store and get a new iphone. I'm fed up with t-mobiles bs, I cant decide if the people "assisting" me there are just incompetent with their product or liars.

I am sadly only 18 and already have a BB Pearl that keeps me connected around the clock and away from work as well. But I agree that you should get on the bike nd get away from the phone, wether it be in your pocket, or your backpack you have with you or what ever else. Must have been nice back in the days of not having cell phones, no worries about what phone to get or not to get and why, you didnt have to worry about any of that BS.

#1. im not sales so i really couldn't give a shit if you want an iphone or not.
#2. Im just going off what att tells us when they train/uptrain the company on the i phone.
according to what we were trained you are not suppose to be allowed to change your number on these phones
and yes you are right, the lowest plan is 59.99 so lets add them up for a new iphone
Phone with 2 year agreement $399 8mb
include Visual Voicemail and Unlimited Data with both email and web plus texting 200 text, unlimited data, 450 min $59.99
Activation $36.00
Itunes unlimited ill have to check for certain but i think its $25
to upgrade from 200 text to unlimited is $20
Like i said im not trying to start a nerd fight with you guys over a fricken phone, just telling what we are told which is givin by ATT. So you wanna slam the e cock go for it.. i wasn't fighting or throwing some stupid ass sales pitch like you are making it out. Hell buy 2 for all i care.

When you're not allowed to bring a phone to work... It makes it very easy to unplug (well, it took a couple of months, but it's easy now).My phone stays at home, I forget it all the time when running errands and the like.
Oh... and one last thing. Just because it rings, doesn't mean you have to answer it!
