Ok, gang...I don't know if this really belongs here, but here's the deal:

My bro-in-law has a '99 Gixxer 600 for sale dirt cheap and is looking to unload it. Just needs some cosmetic work. So, what's the good and bad about this bike? I don't care about about how fast it is...that's not what I'm looking for. How's the handling and mpg's? What's should I be aware of? I've been riding 27 years and am not exactly a newbie. I just want to know if this would be a good, economical commuter.

I had a 99 Yellow & Black GSXR and loved it. Just had to get it running, I had got it from the back lot at a shop and decided to do the wrench time on it myself. After replacing relays, gauge cluster, tires, chain, sprockets, brakes, oil and filters she ran great. One thing though the idle time could be a bit trickey to set if you have a heavy turning hand like I do. Its carbed so nice deep sound. I think I was pulling 120-150 per tank (about the same in my r1) so its better than a jeep ;) Get it and play with it, you dont like it sell it.

Cool, MAZIN...that's what I was looking for. Yeah, the '99 I'm getting looks like a freaking bumblebee, so I'm planning on painting it all black. Because my commute doesn't hit any highways, I guess I'll get decent mpg's out of it. Let ya know how it goes.
