It's getting close to that time of year again. It's warmer outside, you are getting your bikes already and the good looking women are un-bundling after the long winter.
I would like to take advantage of the summer warmth this year by offering a Bike & Babe photo shoot at the end of May or the early part of June. The model would be Maria Eriksson, from the UK.
http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME5.jpg http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME6.jpg
http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME1.jpg http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME2.jpg
http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME4.jpg http://performanceimagery.com/temp/ME/ME3.jpg
As you can see, Maria is very attractive and photographs really well. Maria does do tasteful nude work for those that would might be interested in that. Not only that, but she is about to complete her Masters degree in Biology, so she is smart too!
I'm still working out the details of the shoot like location and times. I wanted to use this thread to gauge the interest in a shoot like this. You can see more of Maria on her site, Model Maria Eriksson (http://www.modelmariaeriksson.com/). There are some Not Safe for Work mages on that site.
Let me know what you guys (and girls too) think about doing a shoot like this.

Alright, the details are starting to fall into place. The exact date, times and location are still being discussed, but pricing, products, usage rights, availability have all been worked out.
This will be a professional shoot in every aspect. The model is Maria mentioned and shown above, the make-up artist will be Alexzandra Dapron, the regional director for Clinique cosmetics. I will be the photographer (of course) and supplying the camera and lighting gear. This will be closed set, meaning that only the photography crew, model and bike owner will be near the set during the shoot. Anyone else at the location will be required to stay out of the area as not to cause any distractions during the shoots.
Each participant/bike will receive six retouched images in both high res and web ready formats on CD, avatar and sig sized image for forum use )one each), a 13x19 print of their choice (poster size but an actual photo print so the quality rocks). All images and prints will have my logo in the lower corner (no larger then 1" and at 40% opacity or less). Usage rights granted for personal use only for the owner of the bike, rights granted for any sponsors to use the images for self promotion in their shop or on their website. I retain full rights to all images. Resale or distribution of the images in high res format is prohibited as is removing the logos.
Each participant/bike is considered a shoot. Each shoot will last approximately 45 minutes. The cost of each shoot is $149.99 plus tax with a $65.00 deposit (applied to the total balance) due by May 1st. Deposits are refundable until June 1st. The balance is due the day of the shoot. In the event of inclement weather, we will either shoot indoors at an appropriate location (studio or warehouse) or I will refund 100% of all moneys received. I will also schedule in a rain date... I want to do these photos as much as you guys do!
This opportunity is limited to 8 shoots. If there is more interest, I will look at setting up a second day of shoots. Payments can be made in cash, by CC or check.
If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll answer them as fast as I can (I'm in Japan right now so our time zones are way off). If you would like to sign up for a shoot, please send me a PM.

Why would anyone pay to have a model sit on their bike for a picture? Shouldn't the bike owner get paid since the photographer and the model are the ones making money off the potential licensing/sale of the photos? Way to try and pull a fast one. When photographers or filmmakers need a bike or a car for a shoot, they rent the time with vehicle and buy the rights to shoot it. Bike/car owners don't pay them for some made up 'privilege' to have their property photographed so someone else can make money. That's ludicrous.
Wouldn't be surprised if you're also charging the model for the privilege to be in your photos with a nice bike. Or if you're trying to charge the property owner for the privilege of having his property in the background.
Sorry to be cranky but it seems like if I was paying $150 for 6 photos, I'd expect the frickin' rights. I guess I should become a photographer and get in on the top of that pyramid.

Sorry you feel that way Devon. You are getting the rights to use the photo for personal use and for any of the racers out there, they get some thing their sponsors can use.
This shoot and the photos are not aimed at commercial use or for a movie, my sales market for these photos are the bike owners. You are not paying for the "privilege" of having you bike in the shoot, you are paying for the services, training, talent, equipment and experience of the photographer, model and make-up artist. If you see only 6 photos, you are only seeing the end game.
The model is an expense to me as she is a working professional, not some girl off the street.
If you or anyone is interested in purchasing exclusive rights to the photos, I'm willing to do that, just be prepared to add several zeros to that price. You are more then welcome to "come get in on the top of this pyramid". Just be prepared to spend years learning your craft and tens of thousands of dollars in equipment.
Again, sorry you feel this way, but I am offering a legitimate service here.

Alright alright, I can accept that we all have our schticks that pay the bills and get the business flowing. I certainly know that more than one thing goes into production. Sorry to attack your formula like that, it makes sense. Only thing I still don't see is why a racer would want professional photos of some chick on his bike? Shouldn't the racer be on the bike in promo material? Isn't the racer the one being promoted, not the machine?
And I must have misunderstood whether you are retaining the rights to license the photos to shops, self promotion, and website, or if those are granted to the owner of the bike.. it's kinda confusing the way it was phrased.
Usage rights granted for personal use only for the owner of the bike, rights granted for any sponsors to use the images for self promotion in their shop or on their website. I retain full rights to all images.
I guess I just don't have the right mentality here. Anyway, I'm sure you'll find some guys that see the draw in this.

No worries at all Devon. As for the rider being on the bike and not a model, it goes both ways. And that is why I offer several ways including some pretty kick ass (if I do say so my self lol) poster designs using my track sie images. But lets face it, if VP racing fules has two promotional posters for you to chose from, one has a local racer that you have know idea who they are or a hot chick on the same bike, which one are you going to take home???
Usage rights are complicated by their very nature, so explaining them on the net is not easy. Basically the owner and any sponsors get promotional rights to the photos. That means as long as they are out right selling the images or running a direct ad campaign with the, they can use them as they see fit. Giving away the high res versions of the files how gives others the ability to do with the images as they wish. Restricting this is one way to protect my images.
