I'm looking for a Job for a dear friend of mine. She is an 18 teen year old single mother that just found out tonight that it will be her last night at her current job. She is a CNA that can't get certified currnetly due to a misdemeanor on her record. Looking in Colorado Springs area. If you know of anything Please let me know.

Thanks,
Tipys

 oops, then i guess your sig isnt a joke then either..... my bad...

i thought the joke was making references to a single mother who couldn't spell and needing a job... especially since I've heard that one before...

just wanted to toss this out there as an idea, but how about the military? doesnt have to be army like i am, could be air force. plus that would give her free medical for herself and her child. and the airforce only deploys for like 6 months, and its to kuwait usualy, so there is no immenint danger.

The Reserves or National Guard for most branches may not include a deployment either. Free college for the most part as well. (soon as I was out of college I was OUT!)

quick threadjack, but if you're a single parent, don't you have to sign over your guardianship to join any branch of military? I looked into the Air Force after high school, but the recruiter told me I would have to do that, so not sure if it's the same these days but something else she'll have to consider.

you dont have to sign over guardianship per se, but you do have to have a family care plan. what that means is that while you are away for training or deployments or field problems, the child has someone they can stay with. normally a grandparent, or the father. however, if the father is a deadbeat (NOT SAYING HE IS), then i would have the child stay with her parents while she is at basic and AIT.

i know there are a lot of sacrafices that get made going into the military with children. i have two children myself, and i have only seen them for 30 days from feb 2006, until dec 2007 when i deployed again, but that is due to divorce issues, and the ex being a douche-bag.

in her case, she would just have to either have someone watch the child while she was at work, or get daycare (yes i know its an arm and a leg for a new born/toddler).

but you do get the medical benefits, and its a guarenteed paycheck, housing on post (or off post should you desire), cheaper food and goods at the comissary and px, and you have a world of support from different programs (army speaking, i dont know about the other branches specifically, but i know they have equal support).

should she want more info, she can always contact me, or see a recruiter. however, i wont snowball her like a recruiter will to get his numbers up. im already in, deplayed, and it doesnt do me much to get someone into the army unless they give the recruiter my info so that i get the stupid 2k incentive for trying to get people to join.
