View Full Version : New Fri/Sat meeting and hangout spot

I'm proposing a new spot for everyone to meet up at rather than the Shell by the Chapel Hills Mall.
--the place is over run with ricers and high school kids stealing perfectly good oxygen.
--There have been several times where a brawl between bikers and ricers have ALMOST broken out.
--We've had some of our boys get jumped there recently
--The cops are on that place like white on rice
--That stupid no U-Turn sign (with 3 cops staked out on it) makes us do that dumb turn in the Chapel Hills Mall entrance only to wait at a gawdawful long light.
--The fat b1tch running the place has a voice that'll crack mirrors and helmet visors.
--Anytime the ricers get too loud or stupid (when are they not?), we all get kicked out
The only upside I see is it's proximity to I-25. Beyond that, I think that place sucks. Now everyone is supposed to keep receipts showing the time you purchased something.
Just south on Academy is a Shell we've met at before that is blissfully free of ricers and rarely has a cop near it.
My suggestion is the gas station at Powers and Constitution. Never any cars there, and a big open strip mall parking lot to boot. It's closer to marksheffel and deserted roads out east as well. We get away with alot more on Powers than Academy.
I live in the south part of town, so I don't know all the spots possible, so please suggest one. I just know that the Shell we meet at now is played out, overcrowded, and crawling with ankle biters and cops.

Why not meet at the chapel hills mall parking lot? Dont worry they will migrate over there. Also if ppl are getting jumped we need to adderess this problem before someone really gets hurt.

Why the gas station on Constitution and Powers instead of the Grocery Warehouse parking lot? There is a huge car show every Saturday in that parking lot, and Friday and Saturday nights a lot of cars (and occassionaly a few bikes) show back up. Usually the ricers avoid this location. The all around attitude is more adult (no peeling out when leaving the parking lot  ). Everyone just hangs out, checks out each other's rides, and sometimes they set up races.
Be warned - if we roll up there 20+ bikes deep, people are going to ask us to race. The guy Trent with the Chevelle that raced the liter bike a few weeks ago is there every weekend. That doesn't necessarily mean there will be conflict, but we might be asked. Let's just try to keep the bikes vs. cagers to a minimum. 8)

I would suggest against places like the chapel hills parking lot. We're bound to attract police attention in a parking lot for stores that are closed. Staying in a place that is open (and with a convieniance store) should attract less attention. Plus if we do end up in another brawl with people, somewhere fairly public is better.
As for the recent jumping, that was due to some drama with one biker that was lucky he was with other bikers and near a place that called the cops. The bikers were vastly outnumbered.
I only suggest the Powers/Constitution station because we stop there fairly often and the place is deserted. No ricers, gang bangers, or jailbait. And it has easy access to Academy. but I'm up for anywhere but that same Shell on Academy.
One added bonus of moving, we will find another route than Union to get downtown. Union is staked out with cops now and is in dire need of repair towards the expo center. Aztec is less bumpy.
So a new meeting spot would most likely mandate a new route.
Any suggestions towards Garden of the Gods Rd? There's a good stunting spot there (I got some good video there last week) and we can either blast I-25 to Bijou to Tejon or take 24 up.

Im not sure of going somewhere where ther is stunting going on. That will attract serious attention. Also if we go somewhere else it can be considered loitering. Im good with whatever but would like to add a different perspective.

Ok time for me (who spends way to much time at shell  ) to chime in.....
I am in no way opposed to moving but here are a few points -
1. Part of the attraction of shell is showing off... admit it. If we do move it should still be in a high traffic area.
2. Though some of the ladys there are underage - I can feel the wind from heads moving when one of them decides to flash or the sort - so take the good with the bad.
3. If we move the trouble we have had this year would have found us. The guy who got jumped 2 weeks ago was hunted - that would have happened no matter where we were at - more trouble was avoided because the cops were in the area.
4. I personally have NEVER had a problem with the cops up there. They are just doing their job. Yes some get a little overboard but as stated above - they will be where we are.
5. As for the loud mouth Mgr. - Yes she has a attatude problem, but that is why she was hired. To keep people in check. If shit happens up there it is her ass so dont blame her. I would be as much if not more of a ass if that was my job.
Just a few views from the other side....

There are always a lot of ricers at the Grocery Warehouse parking lot.
Might just create a new set of problems, but it is a big parking lot, plenty of room.
Don't bring guns!! Then trouble will escalate and someone will end up dead.

First, a couple of riders we don't see much anymore packed heat all the time. I can think of at least two or three that were always carrying before (legally). So that wouldn't be anything new.
1. Part of the attraction of shell is showing off... admit it. If we do move it should still be in a high traffic area.
---Well, that's not really on my list of priorities. May be for some folks. I think downtown covers our posing/show off quota just fine.
2. Though some of the ladys there are underage - I can feel the wind from heads moving when one of them decides to flash or the sort - so take the good with the bad
--This hasn't been a bumper year for tata's anyway. We rarely have women around us (they seem to prefer ricers- go figure) and the last several that have stopped by were all barely out of Jr. High. Overall, I think maybe a new spot would give us some exposure to a new group of honeys. We do better meeting chicks downtown (where at least we can safer in assuming they're legal).
Doesn't matter to me- once you hit 30 you become officially invisible to college age chicks.
3. If we move the trouble we have had this year would have found us. The guy who got jumped 2 weeks ago was hunted - that would have happened no matter where we were at - more trouble was avoided because the cops were in the area.
--This is true. But we only present an easy target going to places they know we hang out at. Besides, according to the story there was a bunch of them and a few of us- yet no one had a scratch on them. Couldn't have been terribly dangerous. What, were the jumpers a pack of oompa-loompas?
I prefer massive retalitory violence to squash that threat outright.
4. I personally have NEVER had a problem with the cops up there. They are just doing their job. Yes some get a little overboard but as stated above - they will be where we are.
--The cops there aren't bad, just thick as fleas. I'm sure that wherever we go, we'll have a cop nearby. But really, the ricers are the ones causing trouble at Shell, and that's why the cops are there. Other than spats with ricers, I can't recall any biker getting into trouble at Shell.
We kind of get lumped in with the ricers by being there. Guilt by association. I'd like to unassociate us with them.
5. As for the loud mouth Mgr. - Yes she has a attatude problem, but that is why she was hired. To keep people in check. If shit happens up there it is her ass so dont blame her. I would be as much if not more of a ass if that was my job.
--True, and she doesn't seem to mind us. But when she gives the ricers the boot, we get it too. I'm tired of showing up, buying a drink and getting thrown out 2 minutes later because some ricer moron acts the fool. Not her fault, but we all suffer her wrath.
I think we need our own hangout. Not one shared with kids in their fart can cars daddy bought them. All the positives can be found at another hangout, and we eliminate the negatives we currently have at Shell.

What about the Sonic by Chapel Hills Mall? At least there will be some food there. I can't think of anyplace else that would be a good spot on Academy.

Well, we'll have to meet up at Shell and get a general consensus. Maybe scout some new spots (any excuse to ride) and routes. if the weather holds, I'll try to be out as usual.

The shell at woodman is out - they dont play with groops hanging out - cops/tickets will be call for (I was informed).
How about the Loaf-n-Jug at Vickers and Acadamy. After Chili's closes (aprox 9) that lot is empty - It over looks Acadamy, and would be easy for others to see us.

Need to get them under the age of 4, more tneder that way, I normally use a little A1, tastes great, then give the bones to my dogs.
How about you pick 5 or 6 places and make a poll, everyone loves polls!

Josh pointed out that it'll probably be in the spring when we move spots because so many folks are dropping out of riding as it gets colder. Girly-men.
Someone more familiar with the north end of town will have to do a poll. I'm up for where ever, just so long as it's not that same Shell we've been going to.

Well I tell you that early on we stopped at the gas station at woodman and academy and was booted, we stopped at bijou and academy and was booted, we have been asked by chapel hills mall security to leave. Shell at North Acadamy is the only one that won't boot you unless the kids in the cars are starting trouble. It's not just a matter of making the move it is who will allow us to park. When the kids at shell start causing problems the police will boot us all and tell us (bikers) come back later. If someone can find a place, great but I question how long it will be before we have to find somewhere else. I agree with I am4u2nv that part of it is the show. If that was not the case why don't we just hang out at someones house or just meet at old chicagos every night.
