Hmm... I got the option set so anyone can edit it. Of course I maybe missing something

By editing, do you mean I should be able to alter/change the route?

I can change it, but it's not changing the route, just moving a point. At least right now. I'll have to play some more.

You should be able to move the line and add placemark.
It wouldn't let me save a route that tells me directions and distance.
