If you know of any training department/human resource department training position needs, just let me know.

I’ve got a varied technical background in teaching, to include:

CCNA Network Academy
A+ cert
Net+ cert
Cable Installation

All courses were taught in a lab/simulation environment. The cable installation course included low voltage wiring for both residential and commercial video/voice/computer networks. The CCNA Network Academy required me to obtain the CCNA certification which I held for 3 years from 2001-2004.

I’ve taught at the high school level for 12 years and have done staff development training in the St. Vrain Valley School District for 4 years. The staff development included blended formats with instructor-led and online learning. I’ve developed and designed varied staff development courses from understanding/creating rubrics, to learning MSWord basics. I have a strong understanding of adult learning and instructional design. Most of the course-work developed for the SVVSD staff development department is based on the ADDIE model.

Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in broadcast/video production.

Masters Degree in e-Education.

Ideally, I’d like an instructional designer/trainer position with a technology emphasis. I am not averse to other types of positions though, and know how to focus my talents.

Cutbacks at the school or just feeling the waters?

My program was cut at the end of the school year. It was a management-type decision...basically, my program wasn't the only one suffering with low numbers. My boss took a look at all other variables and other programs won out because they either made money for the school district, or the programs were not costing as much to maintain as mine.

The program that took over my classroom and the classroom next door to mine was the Printing Trades program, which had been housed in the district's technical services building and that whole department is more than happy to have that extra space.

Bottom line: It's a numbers thing.

Check New Horizons. http://www.newhorizons.com/IT-Jobs.aspx
They're a software training company and always seemed to be looking for instructors.
My little sister worked for them for several years, said the pays not the greatest but it wasn't a bad place to work otherwise.

Um, boy do I have comments for that one. But, I really am serious about finding other work, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself.

I still have work for the coming school year, but it is not teaching, or instructional design. I'm tenured, so I can't be fired. Although in this economy, that's a really good thing, I really, really want to give all that I have to offer to a company and not be stifled, ya know. My boss told me he'd find me things to do in the building...that really isn't capitalizing on my talents.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Mike.:)

Cathy,I understand the training and such...I wouldn't have many connections there. I would however have connections with HR and companies. In the work place what is your job called and where would you see your skills used. Sorry, I'm and idiot with the technical lingo. Let me know and let me see what I can do. Thanks doll!

Thanks Cat.

A lot of HR departments hire trainers for employees of companies to train employees on all sorts of things. One position I called a "dream" position was with Denver Health Med Center. The work I would have been doing would have been learning new software that vendors build specifically for Denver Health...then creating the training for that software of around 3000 employees.

It's something I do. I've done this for the past 9 years at the vocational school I work at in Longmont. It started out with me doing a crash course in the Cisco CCNA cert (1 1/2 months compared to one year), then I taught it to the students who signed up for the class.

A big part of the training is the design and development of the course before delivery. Sometimes the training is face-to-face and sometimes it's online, or computer based. And all of that stuff is part of instructional design (and more).

Hope that helps.

you might try looking over the IBM americas employment site and searching for trainer or educator. I used to work for big blue and worked with technical trainers there.. if you could find a job in their education dept it's a good place to work, especially if you enjoy travel.

just dont limit your search to Colorado as many of the positions are nationwide.

My company appears to have a few training positions open. Check out http://www.mckesson.com/ (http://www.mckesson.com/). The careers link is unfortuanately small and hard to see. It's in the upper right corner.

Do you have a German S&M outfit? Oh wait that has all ready been covered. I wish I could offer you something that will pay you well for your skills but right now my company is going thru a software change and we don't need anyone that knows what their doing. But I can give you a free bump.

Cathy, meet Catharine.
