Hey guys, I am a member of SBN and they said that here was a good site to ask for help.
I have trouble starting my bike ever since I dropped it, is someone willing to stop by my house and check it out? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced.
ADMIN EDIT: I updated your subject to indicate what the problem was so (hopefully) the appropriate people can help. ~Spidey

Can you give us some more details? We might be able to help you diagnose it online.
First of all, what kind of bike.
Second, fuel-injected or carbourated?
When you say "dropped it", were you riding it at the time, or did it fall over while you were stopped?
If it was the latter, was the engine even running?
What happens now when you try to start it?

As some of you might know, i dropped my bike last week. I haven't started it since. Now I've tried 3 times, each til the battery is dead, and then i recharged it. Can you tell me why it is not starting?
I make sure the gas is on, switching to reserve.
I shook the gas tank to mix the gas.
I have it on full choke.
I give it 2 seconds on 1/4 throttle before i attempt to start
I push the starter and it is still nothing.
So I decided to check the spark plugs, and for some reason no gas is getting to the plug. I think something might have happened to the throttle cable when I dropped it on the right side.
I checked all the fuses and they are all in tact. I think this could be the only reason.
Also is the IDLE control a part of starting it? does anyone have reccomended settings for the throttle and the idle and what to check?
I need help asap.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE - also, sometimes when i let off the throttle it lets this HISSSSSS of gas out. So I am not sure.

update again - I think the problem is within the spark plug. The plug is inside a rubber hose that I cannot reach or take off. I dont think its getting gasoline to it to ignite. Can someone help me?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahhh i dont know. it made this real real LOUD POP sound from the muffler. Anyone can help?
RIGHT NOW -
Right now I am going to see if I smell any gasoline on the spark plugs.
Thanks for the help guys.
Anyone wanna stop by? Im just 17 so I dont got a job but i will try to pay whatever i can lol.
BTW it is a 1995 Honda CBR F3.
And when i dropped it the engine was on and i was going approximately 3 miles per hour.

alright, I smell a FAINT amount of gasoline, but i did smell it.
and also, i checked by the throttle body and their is this circular knob that moves when i open and close the throttle. So I dont think the throttle cable is a problem. I am guessing the knob is the butterfly lever?
thx

ok nvm that wasnt the TB that i checked. I cant reach the TB to check if the butterfly valves, which i know what they are now, are moving like they should. This sucks!!
thx

It is a carberated bike. Throttle bodies are on fuel injected systems. There are no butterfly valves, they have slides. If there is a bank/tip over sensor it my be stuck from the drop or did you unplug it when you were taking stuff apart? Do you have the fairings off? Make sure you have spark @ the plugs Let the battery charge fully. Does it fire at all?

yup checked for all that. the fairings are off. where is this sensor that might be tampered with at?
i wil be back on with an update. thanks for the post.

If it has a bank sensor it would be under instrument cluster, I am not sure if you have one or not, just a thought. Wait until tommorrow when some more of the Honda experts get on the board and they can answer your questions.

Hoopty had problems with his F3 that sound similar - it was an electrical issue IIRC. He doesn't have a computer at home but should be online tomorrow. Maybe he can help.

Hey, is ONE hour of charging good enough for a COMPLETELY dead battery?
Thanks,

Probably not, the best way to charge is a slow trickle charge, should take at least 4-5 hrs. on a dead battery. Pobably let it trickle charge over night.

Hoopty's done a whole lot more than "drop" his f3, and he manages to always get it to run. He's the man you need to talk to.

Ancient Chinese secret. :D
Plenty of shops around that can repair plastic, I'd suggest getting in touch with HCR25 of GP Composites. Click on my racing sig, there are links to GPC under our sponsors. :)

If you haven't done so, you want to get a new set of plugs for it.
F3's are notorious for fouling the plugs when you flood them which I can almost guarentee is what your problem was. My old F3 had this problem as well. You may have gotten it started with the old plugs, but you will have this problem again, especially if it sits for a while this winter.
The middle plugs are really hard to get to, but you should change them now if you haven't already.
Cleaning the old ones did not seem to work for me, but a new set did the trick.

Hey yup yup it was the plugs. I cleaned them rather easily because of my "little" hands :shocked
thanks for the tip tho. I hope it helps someone else out too.
Hoopty - It will probably cost a lot of money wont it? And there is no sig in your sig. Thanks ;-)
Hieu!!!!

How bad is the plastic, if you can post up some pics that would help. I've done some plastic repairs and could help out. I bought a product called PLASTEX that worked really well on my 929.
