:imwithstupid:
Triumph's have no problem keeping up with either of the above choices...on the street, if you want to race  probably go with an R1.

suzuki may be, but not latin or european bikes, they are unreliable piece of crap. japanese bikes are the best bar none.....

i think i want to add a V-twin to my fleet next to my Y2K R1. the italian twins are crap. they are like dating a high maintence bitch. what happen to all the V-twin domination? honda no longer races RC51. the japanese bikes with regular care and maintaintence can last a life time. if you watch daytona 200, there is not a single Ducati on track, because they blow up after 100 mile sprint.

i would go with the r1 because of the extra weight on the rc

more technology on the r1 also

i just had to make this decision and went with the r1

Bostrom was out there on a Duc 999R, and in fact led the race for many laps before taking a hole through the oil cooler from a rock. ;)

Hondelay

Yeah, Latin bikes - hate 'em too - pieces of crap. That's why I got rid of my Cuban-made 750cc "Flan" as well as my Puerto Rican naked bike, the Lechon 900... those things are horrible. I'm sticking with Ay-Talian pieces of crap instead.

Ya stay away from any bike that has "made in honduras" stamped on the frame....

I have an RC if you want to come check it out, see if it fits you, listen to the V-twin rumble... etc, be my guest!
the R1 is faster than the RC, but with a V-twin you get into your powerband alot faster.

Don't listen to him, his bike sounds like crap, it's too quiet.

There is a whole lot to like about a big v-twin on the street. The powerband is huge and it's hard to find yourself in the wrong gear. Heck if you've already got an R1 add something different to the fleet!

R1 all the way but I do like the way the vtwins sound. I rode Bashed RC51 and it was pretty cool but I ran into red line too fast for my taste. I think they make fun bikes.

Umm, My Triumph has over 18,000 miles and runs great.

And Latin bikes :wtf: maybe you meant a 70's Bultaco...from Spain :dunno:
Of course there was Gary Jones' dirt bike company from Mexico, think it was AMMEX, not sure.

My RC has 20k + on it and it runs like a champ! .... guess it is time to check the valves! lol!

I have to say I love the RC very much it is a blaaaaaast to ride and while the new liter (or litter ;)) bikes are faster, but if you are geared right ;) they don't pull away (only in the straights) until you are well in the "please arest me region" so for canyon riding and riding twisties you can't beat the toque of a twin! I have even done some sport touring with it from here to Laguna.... I don't even need to mention the sound! ... the soulfull melodies and the incredible stability! ;)

The sound alone is worth the lost horsepower to the R1.

Ummmm Can I have a hit of what you're smoking? The Aprilia twin is ROCK solid! The Ducati twin DOES have more maint but the newer ones are better...

Yeah, anyone who says the Italian twins are crap clearly knows next to nothing about modern motorcycles.

The best way to figure it out is line that R1 up next to the twin , drag down a long straight hop off of your R1 take a break and wait for the twin to show up then make your choice

i like twins myself. as for dependability, i can only speak for the BMW twins and i know LOTS of people with BMW twins with over 100k miles, several with over 200k miles and even a few with over 300k miles with no major problems of any kind (yes on the same bike).

unless you get a lemon, modern bikes are just pretty good (quality wise) compared to what was around 20 years ago.

The R1 and the RC are quite different bikes even in the non-engine department. I've ridden both and the RC takes a while to get used to. It is a beast of a bike...hard to turn in and rough"er" suspension than the R1. But, after riding all of the new sportbikes last year I decided on the RC when I sold my SV. I was trying not to keep up the V-Twin thing just because I just bumped up from one.

I'm very glad I went with the RC...amazed with it's capabilities every time I get on it. And, in the engine compartment...it pulls from 4000 up to 6500 nicely (better than the I4s) and after 6500 the front wheel sometimes comes off the ground with stock gearing. But, all that power isn't necessarily great when exiting a corner on the track (back wheel spinning out).

And, (the best part) not everyone has an RC either. :D

Neither, get a "Single Thumper", gives you an excuse to buy a new bike more often...... :D Brizz still has his for track use..... ;)
