You know, it's funny that you bitch about them and make comments like "if I had a gun I would have shot him" (please dude, spare us the effin drama) yet in the same half page basically call all Harley riders a bunch of white racist pigs (sure sounds like you're making a stereotype there to me!).
I know plenty of Harley riders who aren't racist. I know a couple who are even *gasp* ASIAN. I probably know people from every race that ride every kind of bike.
Don't be so quick to judge, lest ye be judged yourself. I don't condone what happened to you, and I certainly won't patronize the shop, but try not to be an ignorant hypocrite if you're gonna bash them, ok?

And im sorry that you had that experience. I would complain to the facility manager and then send an e-mail to HD and let them know the deal and in that e-mail ask for a responce.

I can't help you with that one jackazz, but please do not generalize like that. That's how that type of attitued is taught.
I ride a Buell and have a lot of Harley friends. A few do have issues. The vast majority are awsome people that do not hate bikes or people with non-USA roots.
Oh, my Toyota was made in CA by UAW wokers.

I feel a pot stirring moment...
My question would be how was the comment that started the whole thing stated?
Saying there is not one American part on this bike could be considered a slam to the Harley guy. They are generally very patriotic and are quite proud of the only American motorcycle company left and Japan was the only Asian country to attack the American mainland.
So, there are some prejudices there, everyone is prejudice to some extent about some race/sex/walk of life. If the comment your side made was a slam against Harley and the Americans who built them, you got a quick and witty reply from the other side. You already brought a "Jap" bike onto their turf and then someone made a comment like that? Some might think you got what you deserve. My opinion is I would not take my R1 to a Harley shop, nothing good could come of it, then to boast that no American made parts in the bike. Right or wrong, anyone who has had a few life years experience under belt could see what was coming next.

Well I am sorry it had to happen to you anyway, other races have an even harder time. If you have to get your R1 serviced at a Harley shop, tell them how much you wished you had a harley since you were a child and it is too bad you can't afford one so you had to "settle" for an "lowly" 05 R1 LOL. Makes them feel good inside and they may actually try to put the tire on your bike on right :) You can catch more flys with honey than by telling them American bikes suck

Blueboy,
I am very sorry to hear how you were treated by that particular shop and by that particular person. :x Some people are just ignorant and mean. Please don't stereotype an entire group because of one jerk. :(
I think his comment about there not being one American part on the bike (excluding you) was kind of humorous. My Harley's have plenty of parts made in Korea, Taiwan, and yes Japan. It just proves how ignorant this person was.
Ride safe and keep the faith.

Dude, why didn't you throw down and just kick his ass if it pissed you off so much?
BTW your story doesn't make sense, your friend said "there is no part that is american on this bike" and the service guy replied "neither is the rider". Was your friend talking about your bike or his Buell? Because I thought it was your friends friend that was getting the tire? And if they were talking about the ZX7 how did you get on that bike? :?

(Warning long post ahead, Book 2 episode one, episode 2 below that:)
Neither would your friend in fact he did the opposite and you got the shaft. There will always be racists. You either try to work with them, or around them but if you confront them as this guy did, thats what happens. About 7 years ago I was riding my V-Max at Academy and Dublin. A Harley guy started calling my bike names and me as well.. jap crap, loser, dick, I rolled my eyes and said "whatever". He then hopped out of the truck at the stop light just after the intersection. Since he was running back to me looking angry, I got off my bike, he hit me (I had a leather jacket and helmet on) I hit him so hard (I almost broke my hand) he fell back about 3 feet, the zipper on my glove somehow gashed his face deeply so blood was pouring out onto the ground, he seen he could not overcome me so he got up and kicked my bike to the ground and ran. I was shocked and the natural instinct in my would not allow me to leave my bike laying on the ground. By then traffic had backed up people calling 911. Long story short he got away, I replaced the mirror on the bike and the handlebar plug, it scratched the case saver and the pipe. All minor damage.
Two weeks ago. I went riding by myself, I was at Tejon at Pikes Peak heading south. I seen to Harley riders exit a bar. I hit a stoplight. Shortly after leaving the light there were cars on both sides of me and I was riding the center of my lane, those two Harley riders rode between the cars and myself on both sides of me. They accelerated so hard and fast it scared the pee out of me, one of them in this display clipped something on my bike, either my mirror or a blinker. Next stop light I pull up in the next lane and foolishly say (yes, I do real stupid things as well) You clipped me and could have caused an accident, they started cussing me out, then the bigger head shaved guy starts looking for his kickstand. I reluctantly look for mine, my head is reeling, they had leather jackets with heavy clothes under them, so my strategy since there was two of them and they had no helmets was to head butt them, one had a scarf I could perhaps choke him with. I am also thinking they had hells angels "like" patches on their back, I am also thinking they could have knife or gun, they look my age and I am thinking aren't we getting a little old for this. The light turned green and a cop stopped on the other side so the kick stands go up.
(sparker here is your synopsis so you can skip the rest of the post)
So my point is, my experience with fighting and near fighting some Harley riders are hard core, they had Jap bikes more than they hate Asians.
You don't even need to provoke them to put them on the defensive. So my earlier point is, you work with them and play nice, you work around them or avoid them by not taking a jap bike to a Harley shop. Are some of them racist and bigots? Yes but not all. So my suggestion is to avoid them and not try to provoke them unless you fight them and how childish is that? Then they make you become like them, full of hate and wanting to fight anyone who does not share their beliefs. Nothing you do will change them. In other words, don't you or your friends take a jap bike to a Harley shop and tell them there is not one American part on that bike.

Yes, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice! - Yoda

You know I have to agree with both R1ch and the guy that posted this thread. It is true that violence never solves things, yet there are times when it is needed to do so. Hate breeds more hate. I've had my share of staredowns and middle fingers shot at my by Harley riders. HAHA I always wave to everyone I see and my favorite is when they see you and look the other way. Oh well. My personal opinion on Harley riders is for the most part they are arrogant and pompous. My favorite line that I hear is " don't knock what we can afford" and " those who don't like Harleys, wish they owned Harleys". Stupid comments like that are why people come to the conclusions that most Harley riders are asinine. 90% of them are. I've seen very few that aren't. The ones that aren't usually are cool and don't care what anyone rides. I've seen it alot. I'll stop in at the Yahoo Motorcycle Chat every once and awhile and sure enough there will be a Sportbike blast from a Harley rider. Point is ride what you want to ride. I don't have to answer to these idiots about my decision to buy my bike, plus I've roasted plenty of Harleys in the canyons and on the street to know that I'm very happy with my buy and know that I've got the best bang for my dollar. Just worry about you and don't care what anyone else thinks. I've always looked at life that way. Only opinion that matters is mine everyone else's just goes in one ear and out the other. Well that's my 2 cents on this....

OK, if want a Harley, I'll buy it and I can afford it. I do not buy it because, it does not suit my style of fast riding that I do. I do not envy Harley nor stigma that comes with it. I agree that the vast majority of H-D riders are cool. I made complaint on this forum because of my experience with them. I was wrong to make derogatory comments about the majority of good Harley people to retaliate against few Harley shitheads. I am Asian, so when they see me ride a Japanese bike, it just compounds their hatred. I am seen as double enemy.

This is one isolated incident. When we did the toy run and were surrounded by thousands of Harleys and no one made any trouble. More Harley riders wave at me than don't. Even when I am on my SV I don't have problems, and they usually don't know what my Buell is until they get real close, they think it's just another sportbike. There are just as many jerks riding crotch rockets as there are cruisers.
