at least that's what it felt like last night
and beer went up a whole buck :o
mixed drinks are the same price as a beer
waiter last night was the most rude person i have had the pleasure of meeting :|
anyway i am open to suggestions, i know hooters on 120th was thrown around last night
so let's hear it north central,, where we goin'

The crowd last night was because the rockies game got rained/snowed out, and a lot of wet people were looking for a place to go. Even Ron (manager) was surprised at the amount of people in there.
The beer thing kinda sucks, but their costs have gone up too and they did increase the amount from 16 to 20 oz. I guess (from what Bob tells me) it's the first time beer prices have gone up in 8 years or something.
Can't say much about the waiter, I don't know who you had - but you can always talk to Ron about that too, he's very receptive to that sort of thing.
Anyway, do what ya want ... just making sure you have all of the info.

Hooters is okay with me...I'm not too familiar with what's around up there...have to make sure we contact them and see what deals we can get. And make sure the woman brings ma damn sammich!

Eh! Breck's is only busy like that on Rockies game nights... Usually we're close to the only ones there... As for non-game nights, my vote is not to move bike night... But on game nights I wouldn't be opposed to entertain the idea of other possible locations...
Or better yet, something on the north side on another night might be another idea (Say Tuesday or Thursday).
As for the waiter, yeah, I know who your talking about, when he works the bar I usually don't order anything from him and go to Pete behind the bar. The rude people that work there usually don't last long...

not upset at all, actually good to see Breck's busy, good for them
just think i got more quality time with my fellow biker types if we are in a little less busy place
i don't make decisions on one interaction
i do think now that baseball season is here there will be a lot more busy nights

my opinion is brecks is getting a little too busy for us sportbikers...at least that's what it felt like last nightI agree, at least in part, with Ralph on this...Last night was particularly busy due to the Rockies game combined with the weather. A few weeks ago when I was there the night of a Rockies game, the place cleared out when the game started. Last night, it stayed busy because of the weather.
That said, I have noticed a fairly consistent decline in service quality during my past four visits (2 game nights, 2 non-game nights) compared to what I had been receiving. The waiters seem to be less attentive to customers and order details than they used to be. While I would like to see things improve, thus far my experiences haven't been bad enough to justify changing the club meeting location -- nor is that what Gramps is suggesting that we do.
and beer went up a whole buck...mixed drinks are the same price as a beerThe beer thing kinda sucks, but their costs have gone up too and they did increase the amount from 16 to 20 oz. I guess (from what Bob tells me) it's the first time beer prices have gone up in 8 years or something.I had noticed this a couple of weeks ago, but didn't really pay attention to the size. When you figure in the size increase, they actually went up about $0.40 (20%) per beer, not a full $1.00 (50%), but nothing was mentioned about the prices going up until you got your tab and found out your beers cost you 50% more than you thought they were going to. When considered without the serving size information, it sounds a lot worse than it really is. Hopefully the price increases referred to are not due to the costs associated with sponsorships. :D
waiter last night was the most rude person i have had the pleasure of meetingI would agree on this point and I would add that he is not the only less than friendly waiter/waitress I've had over the past few weeks. I'm sure he got slammed last night with the weather and all. Nights like that have the potential to be killer nights for $$$, but not with an attitude like his. Like jeaven said, however, these things tend to take care of themselves.
Breck's is only busy like that on Rockies game nights... Usually we're close to the only ones there... As for non-game nights, my vote is not to move bike night... But on game nights I wouldn't be opposed to entertain the idea of other possible locations.I would agree that this is primarily a game-night issue with game nights being more of a hassle due to the number of people in the area and parking.
not upset at all, actually good to see Breck's busy, good for them...just think i got more quality time with my fellow biker types if we are in a little less busy place...i don't make decisions on one interaction...i do think now that baseball season is here there will be a lot more busy nightsI agree on all four points. While I wasn't particularly upset over the situation, I was a little frustrated, particularly after the place emptied out when the game started leaving only our small group in that area of Brecks. Service was just as bad if not worse after everyone left.
I would like to keep Brecks as the primary location, but try to find an optional / alternate location (i.e. in addition to Brecks) that we could go to to avoid the hassle associated with game nights. At this point, I'm not really in favor of taking up another night of the week for get togethers -- just an alternate location on Wednesday nights when the Rockies are in town.
I would also like to mention -- before this thread gets out of hand -- that we (northerners) are NOT suggesting that the CSC meeting night or location should be changed. We're just trying to find an alternate location for those interested in avoiding the hassle associated with baseball. Since the discussion involved primarily northern folks, it is likely that the alternate location is going to be a northern location. Anyone interested is welcome to join us, however the goal is NOT to find a location that is suitable to everyone in CSC -- it is simply an alternate to Brecks for some of the northerners that would prefer to avoid the hassle associated with baseball.

Rock Bottom Brewery - Hwy 36 @ 104th. Near D&B. :dunno:RBB is fine by me, but more importantly, I like that general area a little better than the 120th & I25 area. It's more central (Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior, Boulder, Brighton, Longmont, etc.), pretty easy to get to, and there isn't too much construction in that area right now.

A north meeting spot would be cool with me. I don't get a chance to make it to Brecks very often and could make it up here more.
Another suggestion would be CB & Potts. Blake and I have no problem with :boobies: but Heather might not like it too much. Rock Bottom would be ok too.

I liked Caldonia's when we had it there...at least for the summer anyways.I see no reason why Caldonia's couldn't be considered for a southeasterly location to be used for the same purpose, however I think it is doubtful that many of the northern folks are going to be interested in driving 40+ miles to get to Caldonias. Similarly, while everyone is welcome to join us, we aren't expecting folks from Parker to drive to Broomfield (Sully being the exception :D ). The purpose is to resolve a temporary issue (10 Wednesdays are affected between now and the end of September). We don't have a patent on this idea so if folks in other parts of town want to do something similar, I see no harm in doing so. We can still get together as a more complete group at Brecks on the off weeks.

Right, I was suggesting adding a night :dunno:
Caldonia's is good too, but is south east from my personal preference, that's why I like Downtown. Back in the day when Two Wheel Tuesdays was at that one place I never went to and wasn't just a stupid one hour show.
I don't mind promenade (Rock Bottom), just hate parking the bike there, plus it's teenybopper city, I try to avoid it unless I feel like being a letch that night!
CBP's is OK, except on certain night when they try to make it a nightclub... but it is more manageable for the north siders...
Here's an Idea, someone can open a new bar.... Where's the damn newspaper to look for bar's for sale.

Rock Bottom and Dave and Busters would be cool but have to agree that it is always crowded there because of the restaurants, movies, and other attractions for the younger folks. Alot of teenagers + hormones = messin with the bikes. Parking sucks big time and you will be lucky to even find any parking close to either of the two places.
CB&Potts used to have a club night on either tuesday or wednesday nights.. for ladies night or something. but would charge a cover for the "DJ". but at least the ladies would get a key to some box to win some $$ Haven't been there in over a year so it may have changed.
There is also a Fridays on 120th and Washington (a couple blocks east of washington on 120th) that is pretty cool. last i knew the happy hour drinks were like 1.50 for drafts and half off mixed or something to that effect.
And of course Fox and The Hound off of 120th and Sheridan, although the last time a few of us CSC'rs were there we had terrible service but were able to get our tab taken care of. On the flip side, they have tv's, pool, darts, and kitchen. not sure of the specials on drinks or food though.

I just spoke with the people at RBB, and they really dont seem too keen on a bunch of sport bikers hanging out there with all their gear. Also, Jeaven is correct, the parking there sucks, and they dont have any room to make special accommodations for the bikes. I think we should scratch RBB off the list and keep looking.

Well, that Fridays is a couple blocks from my work... so I could definitely get a head start on everyone. But that place is pretty small, and fairly busy. Which seems to be what we are trying to avoid. But by all means, I encourage everyone to spend as much $$$ as possible in Thornton. :D We could all go to the Lake Ave Inn or Twin Towers...
I agree that the service at Fox and Hound leaves something to be desired most of the time... it is also is quite $$$.
I went to HH at CB Potts a couple weeks ago, and they treated us pretty well... it wasn't TOO busy either, considering it was a Friday night. And my wallet wasn't too much lighter when I left.
I've never actually been to the Hooters up north, but if it is run anything like the ones in town... they should be more than happy to accomodate us. And those outfits are hardly provocative now-a-days.

Holy crap...one redneck starts a post (Gramps) and it is already 2 pages long
We have discussed this subject several times with the Northern group. As Nate stated I am not wanting to leave Brecks altogether. I like it down there, good atmosphere and overall I have never had bad service. As Ralph said if you let Ron know he takes care of it and usually the person is not there the next time. He realizes what we bring to him on Wed. nights....of course with baseball there is more weeknight business now.
Anyway, my vote still goes for Hooters. We talked about this in the past. A few reasons why:
1) Easy to get to---I25 & 120th.
2) Bike parking right at the front door on the sidewalk :yay:
3) They LOVE bikes showing up :boobies:
4) Good food for resonable price
5) Good drink specials
6) :boobies:
7) Lots of TVs covering sporting events or other things to watch
8 ) Did I say :boobies:
Thats my vote anyway. The promenade (sp?) area is way too crowded in further west. THat place gets way out of control and you end up parking 1 mile away. Great places over there, but not want i am looking for.
CB& Potts near Hooters on 120th would be an option, but it does get very crowded at times, but a good place too.

That area around US36 and 104th really sucks... Ive been there during the week quite a few times and its ridiculous finding a parking spot, and way too many kids with nothing better to do but mess around with your car and bikes. I'd almost rather go downtown to Brecks then go to this area.
I think one of the reasons Hooters came up was that they will welcome this sort of gathering with open arms. They are reasonably priced, and at least we would have some :boobies: to look at.
TGIF up here is always busy, especially in the bar area.
Baseball or not, the service at Breck's has been extremely poor the past few times I have been, and now with the higher beer prices (I don't care if they are bigger or not) it just makes me not want to go.

Too far North? Yo...Broomfield is 120th avenue. Sounds like you are wanting more West maybe. Any further south and you are back to denver basically.
There will never be a perfect spot, but having a place that welcomes you, which I believe Brecks does is a big factor. Hooters also offers that. Parking, food, and $$ is the key things for me.

While Hooters might be fine for a guys night out, I'm not sure it is appropriate for a coed gathering. Some of the wives / girlfriends like to tag along occasionally, from time to time the kids want to / need to tag along, and we have female members that might not be as appreciative of the Hooter's atmosphere. While I personally don't care, it just isn't the place for everyone regardless of how "secure" someone may or may not be.
I'm game to give them a try for a week, but I think we need to keep in mind that the group consists of more than a bunch of horny 20-something males with more than one kind of rocket between their legs.

Not that I go out and ride or drink with you all very much, but another suggestion is the Flatirons mall area.
Not inside of the mall, but the outskirts. There are several bar/grill type locations there, such as Bennigans/CB Potts/Gordon Biersch. The area closer to Wallmart.
This area isn't bad parking and crowd wise, but maybe too west for some Northern folks.
Just throwing out some suggestions.

i was trying to find something in that area also, but there are a few really bad problems
gordon birsh and red robin are right next to the movie theatre, which means kids with nothing better to do than screw around with the bikes parked out front
potts over there is always busy after work, they have a good happy hour crowd and therefore would defeat the purpose
bennigans has gross food and they are not very well set up for such a function

Woodys pizza would also be an OK spot. Parking up close, patio for warmer evenings, nice sized bar, and all-you-can-eat pizza for a reasonable price. They are located just off Hwy 287 in Broomfield. It can get busy at times, but there is almost always space away from the kids in the bar.

Someone pointed out that only the evening games are likely to be much of an issue so:
The Rockies home games that fall on Wednesdays are:
Early Afternoon:
May 11 (1:05pm)
June 29 (1:05pm)
Late Afternoon / Evening:
May 18 (5:05pm)
June 1 (7:05pm)
June 8 (7:05pm)
July 6 (7:05pm)

their patio is pretty cool
i don't know guys we may have a pretty good option here :D

my ideal location would be somewhere smaller though, somewhere that would treat us like we were the only people there
I know a place like that  (and its Down town)
Let me look into that before I open my mouth to far.

Another suggestion would be Old Chicago. There are a few up in the north area. 120th and Colorado, another one west futher on 120th, and one off of Hwy 36, north of Flatirons if I remember correctly.

Probably gonna stay Wed. nights. Woodys is located at 1100 Us Highway 287 Broomfield, CO 80020. Its located between W. 10th and Miramonte in the King Soopers parking lot. :)

The only Old Chicagos I'm aware of around the 36 corridor, is Boulder, Louisville, and Arvada. The one in Boulder and Arvada are in very high traffic areas and not very accessible, so I think Louisville would be the only reasonable choice for Old Chicago's.

Makes sense. They've already got a crowd of people there every day.
Where about is Woody's on 287? I live on the south side of 36, so the 287/36 junction is a very jammed up crossing, not to mention the construcion they are doing there.
Not a good place to drink, but a place that may accept sportbike riders...
There's a place called Brothers BBQ right around 36/287, and the owner must LOVE bikes cuz he's got what looks to be a Yamaha TZ250 on display, and a Doohan helmet on the wall.

we talked about brothers---
the only thing is they are a little on the pricey side and in a terrible traffic location
woody's is a little farther north in a strip mall on the right, there is a safeway there i think
better traffic with a couple of lights at each end of the parking lot
they have better specials all the way around

I'd like to throw a suggestion out there - How about Joe's Crab Shack? I've personally never eaten there, but my step-daughter says its good.
1. Its pretty much centrally located (36 and Sheridan)
2. According to their website, they cater to groups and have a 'group menu'
Is it worth checking out?

Mmmm Joes crabshack is awesome for seafood!!!! they have a small bar right in the middle of the restaurant, a small playground outside for kids and a patio that faces the mountains. good parking all around the buillding and i don't believe that they get too crowded on the weekdays.
They are a bit pricier but not sure on the drinks.

way too expensive for what we are looking for

I've done the Woody's off 287 that you guys are talking about many times. Pizza buffet special, happy hour late afternoon and again at 9:00pm. Some cute waitresses, but no Hooters by comparison. :P
They have a decent bar area, outdoor patio, low traffic. There are grocery stores, Starbucks, gas, you name it, all in the vicinity.

Me, too (stop by and ride if it isn't raining). Sun was shining here a bit ago, but clouds are back and it's starting to sprinkle. I'm not overly optimistic about a dry evening. I was thinking 630-700. How 'bout we compromise and say 700ish. :D
