I know Gramps and I had talked about getting together to change oil, etc. Anyone up for doing a tech day at someone's house??

I'm ready for an oil change and installing the frame sliders that are sitting on the shelf.

We have a huge garage, but lack the tools, so if someone wants to bring the tools, we can use my place.

I think a BBQ and beer should be included in this event.

I will volunteer my garage. I have most of the tools that would be needed, including an air compressor and a front and rear stand. There is already some cold beer in the fridge that needs to get drank and a full tank of propane on the grill.

I'm down for this. I need to do an oil change before R2SL, and probably check various nuts and bolts.

I also have *some* tools, and a rear spool stand.

I'd like to request a 60-second spot at the beginning of Tech Day to go over the intricate details of using the Search function. So y'all don't miss anything, I'll be speaking very sloooooowwwwwwly.

Ok, we have 2 suggested locations for the North-Central Tech Day.

What day do we want to do this and around what time?

If we're all going to need Oil & Filters, we should make a list of what we need so it'll be easy on Gramps to bring it with him assuming that one of us didn't pick it up ahead of time.

I'm changing my oil today, if anybody wants to join me.

Gimme a call 720-935-6438.

I'm still gonna try and make it to tech day, but not having a license is going to restrict my travel somewhat.

If you all want to do it at my house, Saturday afternoon would work for me. My parts are supposed to be here on Saturday so I would be out in the garage anyway. The wife and son are going to be gone on Saturday afternoon so it would be a good time to do this. Maybe ride after the tech?

If the weather outlook is supposed to be better on Saturday, I agree with Tom. We need to sieze that opportunity and ride like hell...

I'm in for Sunday at your place Tom.... what time?

Hmm, don't need an oil change, but I could use a cold beer.

i was thinking later on sunday afternoon

we have plenty of daylight now, and that gives everyone time to get things done at home or whatever

let's say 4:00

then we can cook at 6:00 or so :D

gotta make hay while the sun shines :DWhat do you know about making hay (other than that you gotta do it while the sun shines)?

Oh...and I might be down to do an oil change on Sunday. Haven't done that yet since we got back. I've got the oil/filter for my bike already.

Since we've talked about two different days and two different locations, and one of the two days is tomorrow, I wanted to get some clarification...

Are we having a Tech Day at Swademaster's on Saturday? If so, what time?

Are we having a Tech Day at Gramps' on Sunday? If so, what time?

Once date/location are determined (could be either or both I suppose depending on everyone's schedules):

Who is planning to attend?

What are you wanting to get done?

Are any special tools going to be needed to get done what you want to get done?

Are we Qing afterward?

I'm going on the assumption that everyone is responsible for bringing their own parts, oil, filter, etc. unless you have made other arrangements.

Cleveland
Fri May 6th, 2005, 10:48 PM
I need to change the oil/filter.
Install (cutless) frame sliders - reckon I'll need to borrow a torque wrench.
 I dont have spools. Does someone have a stand that will work with my bike?
I'm also convinced that CarQuest doesn't exist. I went looking for it tonight.

swademaster
Fri May 6th, 2005, 11:00 PM
If anybody wants to come over tomorrow, let me know. I have all the tools that should be needed. My rear stand can be changed from to spools to universal. My parts are still due to be here tomorrow if Fed Ex delivers them. Any time in the afternoon works for me, even after you guys go riding.

If anybody needs to get parts, we could make a parts run. All the major parts stores are in the area and CO Powersports and Sun aren't far away either. A BBQ is cool with me.

I'm also convinced that CarQuest doesn't exist. I went looking for it tonight. You didn't look hard enough: Carquest Auto Parts of Lafayette (http://carquest.know-where.com/carquest/cgi/site?site=03162&address=)

From Broomfield, take 287 to Lafayette, take a left on South Boulder Road, continue for about 0.9 miles. You will see Stans Automotive on your right. Turn right at Stans corner (Etna Drive) and proceed to the end of the road. Carquest will be on your right.

I'm planning on the ride at 11 on Saturday as well. While I'd much rather hang out with a fellow Cornhusker than a Tarheel (thanks to our DG trip, I actually know what a Tarheel is now :D), I've got a couple of things I need to get done in the yard so I'm going to plan on Sunday at Gramps' if Tech Day is still on at his garage. I just need oil/filter change.

If everybody is going to Tom's house that is fine. If I can manage to get a way for a while tomorrow (Mother's Day), I might ride by for a while. I won't have anything to do to the bike but get some more miles on it.

It was fun to watch Nate pour in the oil out of that gallon jug. :lol:Yeah, my brain was only half engaged when I picked that up -- cheaper by the gallon, easier to carry 1 jug than 4. I hadn't thought ahead to getting it from the jug into the bike.
