There seems to be alot of interest in doing a bike gathering at Bandimere...so howsabout next week? I don't think there is a bike night...

http://www.bandimere.com/events/day_detail.php?dayID=162&dTargetDate=06/23/10

$30 to run your car/bike, $10 GA to be lame and watch..

From their Racer FAQ:
What do I need to race my street bike?

Again, a valid state driver's license or NHRA competition license is required. NHRA approved helmet, denim or heavier pants, a leather jacket, leather gloves, and leather shoes that rise above the ankle. If the bike runs quicker than 10.99 or faster than 120 mph, additional requirements apply.

I'd be down for some drag racing... I've already done a couple of test and tune nights this year and it's always a good time. Outlawd - I'll see you there on Wed.

Took my other motorcycle to a test and tune, but have been wanting to get the GSXR down to one. I don't think I have anything going on, so I will try to make it down.

Apparently they always have a CSP vehicle they run too. I think this one is supposed to have one of their Chargers.

Last time I was there the CSP were running some of their bikes. They had the regular Harley patrol bikes and they also were running the new bikes they are usings - looked like a Honda touring bikes?

And too anyone on the fence about doing this... There is nothing that needs to be done to your bike to run it at Bandimere - no water wetter, no saftey wiring, nothing. Just show up with you bike set up the way you run it on the street. As mentioned before, you just need a good helmet, gloves, leather jacket and boots that cover the ankles. Jeans are fine, unless you exceed 120mph in the quarter mile, then you will need leather pants - but usually only 1000cc bikes and bigger go that fast. Hope to see some peeps out there - this should be fun.

Very nice... Didn't hear about that! And yeah those are the ST1300s they've been running here in the Springs for a few years now. Things are beasts! Longitudinally mounted 1300cc V4s, like a VFR but bigger!

It would be nice to see more bikes out at Bandimere. Test/Tune night is alot of fun, but get there early so you can make alot of runs. You can make a run and just get right back in line and do it over and over but as it gets later the staging lanes start to get bogged down and it can take 30-60 minutes between runs.

They will also let you pair up if you want to just race someone for fun to see whos got the faster bike. Bring your bike as is with the clothing mentioned earlier. Any bike running faster than 120 mph or 10.99 will also need a tethard kill switch, just FYI they have turned people away for not having those. If anyone needs any tools, air etc. when there, I will be there in a RV that with the lic. plate STOLIN and a black Busa

If I remember correctly most 1000cc bikes are running in the mid 11's (bikes with Power Commanders and Slip On's). The 600's are running in the 12's.

One other thing I forgot to mention... To run your bike at Bandimere you have to have a chain guard. That's the plastic piece that goes over the chain that comes with the bike. Some people take them off because they look like shit. But, Bandimere will check to make sure you still have one before letting you go down the track..

there is? I didn't see a thread, and besides, there are too many social gatherings for my simple mind to keep track of...

I apologize for preferring to ride my bike over sitting around talking about riding all night

OMG! Do you think they'll have a problem with me doing a run in my car even though I'm in a cast and on crutches? Don't worry... I can drive just fine, lol. I've wanted to do this for a long time.

Most the stock 600cc bikes run high 11's to mid 12's
The stock 1000cc run in the low 11's
The stock Busas do dip into the 10's

I am hoping to split out of work early and get there when the gates open-ish

I figure I beat the piss out of the bike all day at a track day...so whats the harm in a few dragstrip passes...also, I really can't ride it on the street anymore, so I have no method of shaking it down or seeing how the bike acts with the various changes I've made...and if I can work on my weak launches at the same time...even better

good turnout!

lots of bikes, lots of cars, got a bit slow towards the end of the night. Good to meet some new faces and see some old ones.

Now if only I could grow a pair and get a 60' time that can't be measured with an hourglass...:banghead:

It was good to meet you guys. Yeah some of the delays toward the end of the night were due two a couple people actually not knowing you had to turn left at the end of the track...............they just kept going straight and ended up in the sand trap?!?!:banghead:

That was fun, I need to get my R/T time and 60' times down. Actually given my R/T I could probably start at the 3rd yellow light and get a better one.

Not sure if this is correct, but from my limited drag-racing experience I was always told to launch off the third yellow because your reaction time and the time it takes to go from third yellow to green are nearly the same. Something like a 1/4 second....

OUTLAWD
Thu Jun 24th, 2010, 11:29 AM
third yellow is correct for most cars...they used to break it down as .500 was perfect for a regular tree, and .400 was perfect for a pro tree, but now they normalize everything to 0.000

I was totally sleeping at the light...my best was a .243

blair...that last race was good, there was only 0.05 difference at the line...looking at the intervals, you had me by 2 mph at the 1/8, but I still managed to hold you off...

I was also surprised to see that me + gear + bike (full of gas) weighs ~640lbs

thanks for the pics Cap'n

FYI, your reaction time is not factored at all into you e.t.. The clock starts when you break the beams, regardless of the tree.

well aware of this...but for those who have any interest in bracket racing, or not looking like a tool at the line, reaction time becomes a factor

Of course! Even with heads up racing (perhaps ESPECIALLY with heads-up racing). It was just an FYI...

What times did you all end up running?

You are soooooo right. Most bracked races are either won or lost right at the starting line due to reaction times.

lets do it again! haha, got my huge rear sprocket on last week...did a practice launch on the hot pit lane at pueblo, and lets just say its a bit more of a challenge to keep the front end on the ground...probably impossible
