Tue Sep 13th, 2005, 01:19 PM
I'm trying to oragize a "newbie" ride for those of us that are new to the area. I'm planning for Sat. morning for about a 200 mile ride with a break in between.
Green12 (Joe) has offered to be our guide to show us "newbies" how its done. I will talk with him about a meeting place and riding route. Any rider is more than welome to join I just wanted to get us "newbies" together for a ride to meet people and become more familiar with the area.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me or you can give me a call at 720-217-6820 (David)
Please let me know if you plan on attending so I can get a rough estimate of the numbers and if you have any suggestions for places to ride.
Thanks to everyone for suppling me info. I will post the meeting place and route here on Wed. sometime so people can plan accordingly.

Damn, I really want to go with you guys. I have to be to work at 3 though. Think we will be done in time? How about doing the ride on Friday or Sunday? I saw your other thread with the different canyons. I have ridden Deer Creek, thtough turkey creek, up through indian hills and through bear creek to morrison back to 470. Fun ride!

I was planning on the "newbie" ride for Sunday at 8:00 AM and leave around 8:30 to beat all the traffic. We are planning on a 200 mile ride so wear ALL the protective gear you have and some warm clothes.
We could do either Sat. or Sunday. PM me or give me a call 720-217-6820 (David) and I'll pass along any info you need.
When I get all the feedback from everyone I will post if the ride is Sat. or Sunday.

Just a suggestion - You should've caught this Mista B.
don't post the route publicly. You never know who is reading these threads (LEO's). Post the meeting time and place and if someone wants to know the route before hand, pm it to them.

just post the route in reverse order... that way, when you do roll by the cops (that lurk on these forums to catch bikers), he will be looking the other way.

For all the LEOs out there I'd like to post the route I ride to work:
I take Chenango East, then excellarate Northbound onto Tower, I then hang a Right onto Mississippi and take my first left onto Buckley AFB.
Ya, i agree, I dont think the cops are trolling the CSC looking for their next sting operation, but you never know with the Neverland cops....

With easy access to satellite photos, I'm sure the cops have access to real-time sat images, so all they have to do is locate us with EarthSat, then zap us with their death rays - their cop death rays... :o
I already told konichd not to post a route, if for no other reason than that it might change at the last minute.
BTW, Jeff, I'm on a ZX12r, not a 10, but I've been looking at those real hard.

From the responses I have recieved it looks like the first annual "newbie" ride will take place this Sunday the 18th. We will meet at the Morrison Conoco and discuss the route then. We would like to meet at 8:00AM and leave by 8:30 to get ahead of traffic and also with 200 miles that will take some time to get in. That way if you need to be back early that shouldn't be a problem
PM or call me 720-217-6820 for any info or concerns.

 This is too funny... a few of us from 600RR.net are going to meet at the Conoco in Morrison at 8:00am for a ride... we should be done with our ride by 1 (so we can all watch MotoGP!!!)... a few routes have been discussed...
but a heads up... there IS a test and tune at Bandimere on Sunday... gates open at 8:30a, so there may be a TON of little ricers running around in the area, and possibly a line to get off the highway...

OK lets clear up some confussion about the "Noob" ride.
Yes its Sunday the 18 @ Morrison Conoco @ 8:00AM-8:30AM then off we go
Second, this is for people new to the area or for people just starting out. I won't be scrapping my knee, rockin' wheelies, or anything else. In fact I will take the govenor off my Lawnboy and put it on my R1 so if you can't go 5 MPH this ride isn't for you.
Last, who cares? Come out take a relaxing ride and meet some new people!
~Barn~
Fri Sep 16th, 2005, 02:29 PM
It looks like a few of the "girls only" are hesitant about this noobie ride, because they question their ability.
Anyway you can take it down to maybe a 4MPH top speed? :dunno:

Well, I hope that you and Bat decide to go. From the sounds of this thread (and the overall winding down of the season as it is), I'm guessing that this is probably gonna be one of the more chill rides of the year.
If whoever is leading this shindig can do something nice and smooth-like, so that we can be back to watch the MotoGP race at 1:00, I might even have to tag along.

Marc,
Bat thinks she will make it to Boulder about 7:20, then we're supposed to meet Cleveland at the new 7-eleven in Golden at 7:45.
So if nothing goes wrong we should hit the conoco shortly after 8. I think they are shooting for an 8:30 departure.

Always good to put new peeps to faces.
And to the Gilpin County PoPo...who waved me down for "ubstructed licsense plate"....CRS states something like the plate must be viewable from 50ft....and that's a weak ass stop; at least get me for my pipes...
We definately need to get another big ride as the aspen trees start to change color. If you are a "new/slower" rider don't be intimidated on the canyon rides NO one puts presher to go faster than your limits so put your gear on and come out next time.

Yeah, I'm glad I ditched work for 2 hours and got the bike into the canyons for the first time. My old sportbike experience and my cruiser experience allowed me to get confident fast, carried 110-120 through the C.C. Parkway easily, and opened it up to 150 on a long straightaway just to see if it really could, now to see if it can really hit 170 at this altitude
Fun meeting the new faces, we must do this again and I have the 25th (sunday) off and the 26th is my 21st B-day, if that isn't reason to ride again I don't know what is...

DAMN, I SUCK. i'll have a new toy on saturday, and if i haven't already gotten there by then, it'll still be in the "break in" period, but if no one minds, i'll totally go!
My fiance' didn't come for the same reason.

Thanks again Joe and Bueller for showing us around the canyons, I had a great time even though I was always the one behind!
It looks like there are alot of people interested for a second "newbie" ride so I will offer to organize and head this up. I definately need the practice before i run out there again.
This sunday would work great! Same time?
PM me or if you have any questions call me 720-217-6820 (David)
I'll find a map and see what Canyons we want to take. More than likely a similar route to what we road on Sunday, but maybe a little shorter?

i could be down for another southern ride this weekend. there are lots of roads i have never been on, or wouldnt mind going on again. i have always wanted to see that castle thing in the mountains (name?), but i guess thats sort of a longer ride?

Sounds like you all had a great ride. I will be there next time - with MY DAYTONA instead of my wifes SV. She wants to go too next time if I can get her bike fixed before Sunday.
My daughter and I had a hellufaday. I think you all got home before we did. Put it this way, by the time I got home and turned on the tv, the MotoGP had just ended.
Anyway, hope to see ya all next time and meet those of you that I didn't get to meet.

I new I should have went street riding with you guys rampart sucked. Crashed in a creek and almost drowned, Then I hit a tree and knocked off my pipe and bent the forks.
ahhh... that sucks. Was it the 600RR? Well i guess it's always better to bend your forks instead of your back.

Depending on your route, it's pretty much a full day ride. (much nicer ride if you take the scenic route to get there) The 2 hour ride back from Pueblo sucks though...

Clevland-
You might want to organize a ride down that way, I'd bet some of the "Southerns" would linkup with us Metro's.
Not sure if this would be the best ride for junior newbies.
I'd be down for the ride!

Thanks Sully! :) I would LOVE to ride with you more, chicky, but dayum, you're good and me, well, lol, somebody's gotta be the turtle, right? ;) I am usually riding at least one of the days every weekend but it's a whole different pace in Bat land!
Does this mean Cleveland didn't notice I'm female? I know I was having a SERIOUSLY bad hair day (lmao) but sheesh. Guess I better take off the jacket at one of the stops next time, eh? :boobies:

You know, a trip to the Dragon will change you forever. Sully is NOT the same woman that went to North Carolina with us in April. She's totally taken her riding to a new level

Or a trip to the track, where 18-wheelers don't try to kill you and Harley's don't slam on their brakes in front of you. And where you don't get pulled over 5 times between you and 2 of your friends on the first day you're there

Nice Ken. The "pulled over 5 times" sounds like something out of my playbook.

We went down Wednesday through Monday. But it rained Wednesday and Thursday! You're right though, all of the cops were out of the weekend. The 18 wheeler was on Monday and I'm glad b/c if I would have seen that on the first day, I would have went home. Scary sh*t.

Sucks to hear that. We went for a week and had sunshine and clean roads the entire time :D
You and I both learned a TON down there Sully! You learned to ride with a lot more confidence and I learned how to crash a lot
