pretty rough day at work yesterday.... I took a piece of sheet metal to the eye yesterday... I started bleeding instantly spraying blood into my gloves... was rushed to the hospital and then to surgery.... I got 20 stitches to my eye lids... I have minor retina damage from hemriging (sp)... cat scan shows larg swelling in the sinal (sp) area doc thinks I chipped a bone... all in all looks like I try' d to take a hit from Tyson..... will have pics up soon...
on the up side I have some time off work so may be back in the springs sooner then I thought. working on moving my flight up to this next week...

Well I am glad you are ok, losing an eye is would be a bummer and be a hinderance to ridding your street and dirt bikes as your ability to judge distance would be greatly reduce. Be extra careful out there when you have a job that has higher safety risks.

This public service announcement brought to you by Richie and the letters W T and F...
Sorry bout your eye man. My brother had a shard of glass go through his eye. Same thing, stitches and the lot. No vision loss whatsoever. Ya gots to love modern medicine.

the whole depth perception thing would certainly be a problem at first, but a person can adapt eventually. i have. it doesnt slow me down too much...
still would suck to lose an eye even if i had both to give. so i'm glad you didnt lose it townie

Well I guess there is some truth to what they say:
“It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.”
Glad you’re OK --- relatively.

Sh*t man, that is nasty! Like Darren mentioned, safety glasses or better eyewear is a must when working with that stuff. Very lucky it wasn't worse. Hope you heal soon.

That is a terrible thing to have happen. I'm glad it wasn't worse.
Are you going to have any permanent visual impairement?

Sorry man, I had to laugh at my bad pun.
But yeah.. it's "retina".
(since you're at least trying to find the correct spelling)

Have you been able to see anything since it happened? Light, blurry light, missing area? Hope it works out ok.

not so much of the light.. it has been mostly just specks.. looks like a flock of birds in my peripheral vision.. that's why I went in and that's when they said I had a tear.. so it is still the waiting game.. I was told that it would be a few months before I get healed and find out if I'm going to have anything permanent..
as for seeing I can see out of the eye. it is a little weird and blurry.. my depth perception is off.. when driving at night I stop pretty far back from other cars..
