Well since i am still a n00bie on my bike i like the fact that i live in loveland.... Fort Collins with the college kids is still kinda scary to me. So every now and then tooling around in Loveland is nice, plus its where i pretty much grew up, even though it very different now. Anyone else around here? I am on 22nd on the North part of Loveland.....

Me!! :D

Near TVHS and DYING because I can't ditch work today and go riding - man, it is GORGEOUS out there!!

Are you new to your bike or new to riding or both? I just got my bike last Spring but I sneak away with her any chance I get. I work from home so no commute time though (dang it, lol).

Well hit me up if you are looking for someone to go riding with - I can usually take off on weekdays too unless I have something big going on with work (like today, sigh).

Now that it's winter, I have been avoiding the mtns (not into sand and gravel) but I enjoy tooling around on the backroads. :)

I'm in the Loveland area. The Peakview apts on Knobcone just 1 block East of it's intersection with 287 (Sonic on the SW corner, and U-Haul on the NE corner). I'm usually up for a ride, and would be interested, jut PM me or something. Hell, there's even a pool and hot tub here at the apartments for the after-ride relaxation. It gets old riding down to Morrison before even starting a ride. There doesn't seem to be too much happening on this board, but hopefully that will change.

I got a dirt bike again and figured out that I'm in worse shape than I thought  and sometime in the last ten years jumps got huge and I got chicken

Shouldnt be a problem if your legit, but they can get annoying, my roommate gets pulled almost everytime he is out....I've been pulled over once in a group but the cop pulled behind me for 10 secs and then went around me to the person in front of me and popped him for his plate....

i havent had mirrors on ever since i bought my bike 3 months ago. the cops dont care unless you actually get pulled over for something else. it is a law that you have to have at least a left hand mirror and you have to have blinkers even if they dont work.

Have you gotten much shit for the mirrors? I just got a new toy a couple days ago, and really want to ride, but one of the previous owners took off the mirrors so there are none. I am really not in the mood to get hassled (or worse, ticketed) for such a stupid thing. I am still lookin around for mirrors, but really just want to ride my toy!

Actually, if you have blinkers, they need to work or that's a fix-it ticket. Blinkers are not required by law but are s'posed to be there if the bike came with them.
The only requirements for bikes are one mirror, horn, working headlight, taillight and brake light and DOT tires, that's it.

Heya, I'm up in Ft. Collins.
Gizzmo, I'm on CSUCC, too, I recognize the bike :D
Got my first bike about a month ago, a 1999 Suzuki Bandit 600S. She's a little rough, but I picked it up dirt cheap, and she's cleaning up very nice so far. I just recovered the seat with new vinyl today, actually.
Once I get a new front tire on (hopefully by the end of this week) I'd love to meet and ride some time.

Cops everywhere in Loveland. And they love speeding tickets. I know I was born here. 29th from 287 to Wilson. Wilson from Eisenhower to 50 something. I live on 43 and Wilson my back deck faces Wilson. I see people being pulled over there all the time. I have had 4 tickets in my lifetime in Loveland. Dont speed. Other than that you can get away with anything.

I landed a new job with Department of Erractions..I mean Corrections and getting used to my new hours (night shifts). I am also trying to buy a home so have been busy packing and such. I am hoping to settle things out here in the next few weeks and hopefully have a open house and get some mid-week rides in. Which it hasn't always been like this.. few years ago only a handful about 10 squad cars out of the entire force had radars.. They were more interested in gangs and all that good stuff.. But yea i have seen a few pulled over.. But have never been pulled over ever in either collins or loveland... (knock on wood)

What DOC is around loveland? i only know DOC in sterling, denver and colorado springs... county and city jail i can see but i haven't heard of a DOC anywhere around here.. but i could be out when it comes to this area... fill me in.. I myself use to work at the WCSO jail in greeley.. sucked and way over packed.. we had about 600 inmates and around 450 bunks.. which finally they are just now getting to adding on the new block.. Good luck with all that tho, and inmates will always be your best friends.. I miss the work but will be better off after school

Welcome to the club, Chris. Hey, isn't there a car show at the old A&W on Eisenhower in Loveland? Or, is it no longer in existence since it's no longer an A&W?

Think about coming up to the Thursday meeting spot at MotoHaus sometime. :) There's typically lots of bikes to drool over there as well. We saw a nice old rig last night with a sidecar and then one of the regulars rolled up on his brand spankin new MV Agusta:drool:...what a sweet ride.

Where is this, in Fo Co?

In Loveland the meet doesnt happen anymore at A&W. Stupid owner didnt want to pay the fees to use the name, so they changed the name and no one ever came back... so they went out of business....

Any one want to join me tonight?

I think most of the people/cars that used to go to the A&W moved over the Orchard center parking lot (over by King Soopers, Applebees etc) on Friday nights but then just a few weeks ago they got kicked out because it started getting too big so the police were getting concerned about security problems etc. They then moved to Friday nights in Berthoud and usually setup at the A&W there as well as in a parking lot next to the fire department up the road a couple blocks (the A&W doesn't have much room). I went a couple weeks ago to Berthoud and it had an ok turnout but not nearly as big as the week before in Loveland. Those are the only two times I have gone though so I don't know if the turnouts were just coincidence of if what I saw was typical.

Eh...MotoHaus is just a place to meet and chat with a whole lotta Motoheads. You get to know people that way. It's a good way to know who you are riding with...IMO. You can always set up weekend rides on Thursday when you meet-up at the Haus.

Hope you can join us on a coupla rides sometime soon.

Sun Jul 8th, 2007, 05:41 PM
Ah, Grand Lake? It was nice. We got an early start, which was good. Trail Ridge now has a big swath of gravelly road approaching the last visitor's center, but it's still passable. Got into G.L. around 10:30'ish and had coffee at the Wake Cafe in the marina. Left there and headed back over Trail Ridge to meet up with someone we left in Estes (he didn't want to attempt the construction zone). Got into Estes and still beat all the black clouds. We stayed in Estes just a tad too long, cuz I got a tad wet on hwy34 for about 5 miles. Got out of the clouds and then beat the "big one" by mere minutes, rolling the bike into the garage just as the rain hit.

Good day...good ride:)

I am new to the group but not to riding. I live in the south west part of Fort Collins by JJs. I went for a ride on Sunday and was amazed to find that at 8:00AM I was almost the only bike on the road. There were very few cars and I had a great ride up the Poudre canyon and saw a total of on 5 bikes and very little traffic. What suprised me the most was how many bikes I saw at 11:00AM heading into the canyon when I was leaving. Why are riders waiting to start their rides when all the traffic is on the road? I only had to pass 2 cars on the way up and about 20 on the way down.

Yes that was me the old guy that works at Beemers and more. I was hoping to run into a couple of riders up the canyon. That is why I was suprised to find the canyon void of bike traffic. Thanks for telling me about the club last Thrusday. It sounds like it is a fun group of people.:)

*Old guy*???? Ok, no you wait here mister...lemme go pull out my can o'whoop arse...te he...yeah, you'd be surprised how *old* some of us are.:)

Anyway, keep me in mind when you head up the canyons early, cuz like I said, I do like early rides. I probably won't be available this weekend, as we've got the annual CSC bbq thing going on down in Littleton at Clement Park on Sunday. But, you're more than welcome to join. I'm gonna be riding during the week this week, so I'm gonna need to chill on the weekend to appease the kids.

See ya at MotoHaus, though.

Well crap, never organized a ride before. Thinkin maybe head out from maybe that grocery store on 34 and taft? (isn't there a grocery store there?) Leave the parking lot around 830? Head out 34, we could either go to estes or swing up and catch stove prarie up to rist? Pace would be 10-15 mph over limit in corners, close to limit in straights...

Yellow Bullet
Thu Jul 12th, 2007, 09:00 AM
Ya there is an Albertsons there on 34 and taft... So meet there at 8, head out around 8:30.

Note: Im not the most experianced rider so if we are doing 15 over i can handle that.

not to butt in here, but a place that we usually meet at is the sandy's conoco just outside of loveland on US34.
you know the one!!!
anyways,if i am able to make it you will see me at the given location determined by the group.

the pace should be always the comfort of the individual.
as long as we set stop/meet point along the way there should be no problem with people wanting to lag back.

can you tell i've set up alot of rides????

i'll be keeping an eye out for the details to hammer out.
see y'all soon.

Sandies Conoco... thats on the west side? That sounds like a better place to start, that way we can all have fresh tanks. I haven't been to Estes in a while, and I know rist alright, so if I'm leading then I'll probably head north. But if Daemon wants to come, I'd highly encourage him to lead. I'll be on an orange SV650S. So yeah, meet at 8, head out at 830, get home whenever we feel like it, and however we feel like. If anyone has any opinions please feel free to let em rip. I like to fly by the seat of my pants, but on a motorcycle that isn't always a good thing.

well,i hope you guys have some fun.
this morning i awoke to a flat tire i just recently put on the bike.
as a quick fix i plugged it. i don't trust the plug for canyon runs, just back and forth to work.
i do hope to catch up with some of you soon though.
might be a coupla weeks before i can afford a new tire

I know how ya feel, man. Just ordered my own tires, but they're on back order, so I won't even have them in by this weekend. Maybe next weekend. I'm lucky enough to have another bike(wifes) that I can ride when my tires are gone. But if I get a flat, the solution is just one tube away! Sorry you can't come.

What's up with all the nails/screws you're attracting, huh? Sheesh! Oh, btw...maybe we should call this section Ft. Gree-land. What d'ya think?

I know, it doesn't take care of everyone else close by. Dernit! But, it does have a sort of ring. Um, maybe?

Get yer tire taken care of, Mayo. We need to do another big ride before school starts up again.

Really? We can call ya? Yeah, I'm being a smart-ass.:D C'mon down to the CSC bbq on Sunday. And if not there, then come on by to MotoHaus next Saturday between 6 and 10 for a Q and some live music.

I teach and am free almost any day until mid-August.

motohaus is a great coffee shop whos owners are riders. there is always a great atmosphere(unless i am around, but most people tolerate me) and some great people to talk to. thursday nights are bike night(cept this thursday 7-19) and there is also a bike night on saturdays that isnt as popular as thursday but still a lot of fun, a thursday night will bring on average 50+ bikes, most of whom arent part of the csc or rarely post. most of the people come to bike night just to hang out and talk with other riders and admire the other bikes, and to set up rides for the weekend. i think it is the best way to network into a great group of people. (and there are a couple of sherriffs deputies that ride in on there own bikes, always nice to have those guys on your side). also if you have a cherryed out car or truck you would like to show off you can stop by on wednesday nights for exotic car night, you could always park in between the aston martin vanquish and the new lamborghini gallardo.

and they have a nice big flat screen to watch moto gp on sundays.

oh yeah, i think they serve coffee to
