So I finally broke down and scored me a pretty decent set up and gonna go tomorrow morning and see how things go!
Do any of you fly fish? I have been spin casting since I was a kid but I'm just starting out fly fishing and would be nice to go with someone who is "seasoned".
Anyway, Im going up to bear creek if anyone is interested! :)

If it wasn't tomorrow I'd go with ya, but I'm previously committed at Dysco's House of Fun and Furniture Schlepping.

Hey man…. I go fly-fishing almost every weekend. I mostly go to 11mile canyon, The dream Stream, Decker’s, and at times the Arkansas river.
If you are just starting I would love to show you around, not sure how much you know about the South Platte waters but you need to use really small flies (size 18 to 24). I would recommend 11 mile canyon, the upper 2 miles (near the dam) are catch and release only and the place is loaded with fish. I took a new guy last weekend and he hooked some really nice fish.

Fly-fishing takes time to prefect I have been doing it for a few years and still learning. A good book I would recommend is Pat Dorsey’s new book. The book is called A fly fisher’s guild to the South Platte River. Make sure you go to your local fly shops, they should be able to give you some valuable information.

I’m always looking for people to hit the water with, so let me know when you want to hook up.

Tomorrow I was thinking about going to The Dream Stream, but the forecast is calling for T-storms so I might just skip tomorrow and go up on Sunday.

yeap, the rain is good and overcast fishing is nice… great Blue Wing Olive hatches. What scary are the T-storm… Holding a 9 foot fly rod is like holding a lightning rod.

Nice to see some other fly-fishers… we should defiantly get a group together.. I’m sure it will be a blast… so any of you guys tie also?

David.. I have no idea what your talking about man....

hey Desmo, Do you ever go on a weekday? I have dabbled in it, but I just don't get how to pick what the hell to fish with. that and I can never remember how to tye the different knots. I am in Parker, and when I am home for 2 weeks I can go just about any day. I also have access to some gold medal stream up by fairplay. if your offer is good for anyone, I would love to take you up on it too.

Hey Chris… I do prefer to go fishing on the weekdays, however with work it is not that easy… Selecting the proper fly can be very hard… you need to take into consideration, temperature, time of year, location, etc. At times I like to seine the water to see what kid of bugs I can see the fish feeding on… It can truly be a science and one of the things which makes fly-fishing so interesting and frustrating.

I would defiantly be down to fish some of them waters with you… just let me know so I can plan my schedule and take the time off work.

I met up with Big-J yesterday and tried to fish a few areas in South Park, unfortunately we had little luck… I guess you can’t win them all…

 Was out in Green River, UT with my dad a while ago as a storm rolled in. We got out of the water pretty quick, but most rods are carbon graphite now, and he kept getting zapped in his hand from the static charge building up and conducting down the rod. At first he was just like 'WTF', and then when he figured out what was going on he damn near jumped out that river and dropped the rod in the grass.

I've been fishing the inlet to Gross Reservoir the last two days. The fishing is great and they're taking everything offered that's not on the surface. Landed a 16" brown today on a bigish spoon that had a few fertilized eggs in its stomach and not much else- they're hungry.

There are tons of hard fighting 10-12" rainbows and apparently a few other big boys lurking around.

The water level is rising fast but the next week or so ought to be really good there. To get there you have to negotiate a few 4x4 trails or park at the south lot and hike a good 20 minutes. It's definitely worth the trek- take the steep trail at the picnic tables.

Time for a fishing report… The Dream Stream is fishing well the flows are really high and the browns are very aggressive. Caught this fat boy on Sunday…

When are we going fishing???
