Ladies, we've had two posts but 70+ views, so that tells me there's at least one or two of you lurking out there!

I'd like to get some discussion going on about what we, the fairier sex, want to get out of CSC and how we can make that happen. A taster of the ideas currently floating around:

- New rider support: for all the girls we know who "Have always wanted to learn to ride a bike"...
- A ladies-only track day, all day, perhaps even with bikes from Aprilia and/or MRA support..
- Safe riding seminars with pro trainers, on the road or on the track
- Ladies-specific gear events at local dealerships
- Ladies-only group rides at the weekends that could meet up with the boys for lunch if we wanted to
- Ladies-only skills clinics (emergency stops, obstacles, that kind of thing)

None of this will happen, though, if we don't collectively show that there's some interest...so if you're reading this, then please respond, and get other female riders to also.....I think we can really make this work for us!

i would not teach anymore girls how to ride, if i was you. there are enough horrible female riders out there, stick to the few good ones you know.

i 2nd that.

i like the girls i have met through csc, plus a couple others i know, and would love to "do" lunch with everyone sometime. plus, i always need help finding good female riding gear, good being the key word.
the rest of your ideas sound great but, really, are a lot of work. i would rather ride with the girls i already know than take the time to train or retrain other ones, selfish but true. i'm working on getting my race licence, no time to get even myself out to the track much anymore.

Let's get that set up then...suggestions for time and place?

I hear you; and I know many of my female riding friends would echo that. I'll talk to the dealerships in town and see if we can't get something set up. Watch this space.

I'm really not advocating that we train new riders from scratch; the MSF etc. can do a better job of that than we could ever hope to. The idea here really is to give the opportunity for new riders to go out riding in a slightly less competitive environment so they can build their confidence. I had a rider who really helped me in the first few weeks, riding as my "wingman", answering the myriad of questions I had at every stop when I first got going. It was more psychological than anything else, but it boosted my confidence no end.

It's not for everyone and I'll be the first to say I won't be doing this every weekend, as I like to go hooligan it as much as the next person when the fancy takes me. But if we have members who are willing to do this every now and then, then great. If there is zero interest in this idea, that's fine too. We'll just bin it in the "sounded good, went down in flames" file :D

the rest of your ideas sound great but, really, are a lot of work That's where I come in....I organize....you get to have fun. Deal? :D

I think you have great ideas surfinspacegirl. I like the idea of just having a network of female rider support too. When I started riding this summer, I looked for something like that, and it was nowhere to be found. I think the idea of showing new girls the ropes is a good one, but maybe only because I am a new rider. I'm very grateful for the people who put up with my learning curve and silly questions...and I would love to help someone else out however I can. :)

Lunch sounds good as a first step. Weekends work for me, but January will be busy.

Jessica, I feel much the same as you. I would welcome any learning opportunity, as I have been riding since August, and would especially enjoy a more laid-back, female atmosphere. Hannah...you have some great ideas...anything you would like help with, let me know. I can't speak to the coddling of less experience riders, because I, myself, am a member of that category...
As far as not encouraging anymore females to ride...can we ban new squids, too? Interesting point of view, since new female riders, including mysels, are buying at erico. Lauri :?

Hi everyone. I am Barbara, Hanna's friend, and I am psyched and totally supportive of women sportsbike riders.

I've been riding since '91 so I've owned many bikes and gear and logged lots of miles (I didn't own a car from 91 to 01). I have a 97 YZF600.

I haven't generally been keen on large group rides, but would love to support this group. I look forward to joining a social or a riding event!

Yehay! Finally some more female voices! :bananna: I was kinda getting worried I'd made a lot of noise and no-one was interested

Sounds like my musings to the other coordinators about what we could do for the female membership weren't that far off the mark :D

Remember I just threw our this stuff as my ideas, I'd love to hear what you're thinking would work. How about getting together sometime mid-January to mull over ideas and lay some groundwork? Does a weekday evening or weekend daytime work better for everyone? Maybe even an inaugral ladies' only ride, perhaps, weather permitting? Let me know when you're free and I'll pick a date/time most of us can make :)

Gladly!!!!

Hi Hannah, et al.
I am generally free weekday nights and weekends. Alan and I are going to Mexico nextweek, through the 14th, then I have Nationalboard exams on the 17th...so after that would be wonderful. I would be up for either dinner and/or a ride. Let me know what works for everyone else. I would voice some ideas, but I think you came up with them all
Did anyone end up at the track today? I passed by on my way home from work, but people were just wrapping things up at that time. Some day I will get enough "balls" up to get out there! Keep in touch...Lauri

It seems girlonback's comment got our collective back up, ladies, as Kym down at Erico tells me she's been taking heat for the above!

Despite the girlonback's profile stating her occupation as "parts, erico motorsports" Kym assures me it's not her, nor anyone else at the shop. I've certainly never come across any "anti" attitude at Erico - if anything I've found the exact opposite.

So please, ladies, be nice, huh? ...at least until we find the REAL culprit

Hi Ladies!

Kym here, from Erico Motorsports.

I just wanted to let you all know that the comments of girlonback, whomever she may be, in NO WAY reflect the attitude of myself or Erico.

I do, in fact, ride myself (I was 16 the first time I rode) and have been a huge proponent of the sport for many years, including corner marshalling for the MRA, past-MRA membership and AMA membership. I especially have a soft spot for the sisterhood!

I have nothing but the utmost respect for denizens of two-wheeled, motorized sport, be they male, female, black, white, purple, whatever. That is why I find the comments of girlonback so inappropriate.

I honestly don't care to know who girlonback really is, I just wanted to let you all know that I and Erico are dedicated to providing you with the best service posible.

Come in and chat sometime! I'd love to see more ladies here at the shop, especially since I'm surrounded by a testosterone cloud most of the day!

Best wishes and rubber-side down! -K

Um... ya, she's awesome! Hi barbara....

I'm down for all girl things here and there! Just let me know when and where and I'll adjust my schedule accordingly (well.... unless it involves me bailing on a trip to Kentucky  ).
