As unbelievable as it sounds I hit ANOTHER FUCKING DEER Friday night! That makes 2 in as many years! This time I had enough time to slow down to about 10-15mph or so and just kind of fell over so I'm not hurt. The bike is a bit beat up but, hey, that's what insurance is for right? State Farm is gonna laugh at me when I tell them this shit.
Before you ask, yes the deer is fine, that mother fucker just stood there afterwards staring at me, that is until I chased him off screaming various obscenities.

This may be a repost or I may have brought this up before, have you considered one of those above the sound of human hearing whistles that are supposed to scare deer away? I am not sure if they work but I have seen a number of deer this year and I guess it may be worth looking into. At Deckers I have seen more deer than police, cheaper than a radar detector and police usually don't jump out in front of you to try and take you out. I may have to get one myself.
Glad you are ok.

1) I've read recently in many articles that those deer-whistle things don't work at all.
2) I have to relate my call to the insurance company (Allstate) when I last hit a deer....
"Hello, this is Allstate Claims."
"Yes, I hit a deer and need to make a claim."
"Where did you hit the deer Mr. Smith?"
"Right in the head. No, actually it was on Deer Creek Road"
"Well, Mr. Smith. Sounds like they tried to warn you." She chuckles.
"And what's the closest intersecting road?"
"That would be Turkey Creek. I wish I had my accident there and we could have had a better dinner."
It took her a full 2 minutes to compose herself from laughing so hard.

I read the debates but the consensus was they don't work. :(
I think I am more afraid of deer than cars (even though the chances of getting hit by a car is much higher) Cars have some degree consistancy but deer seem to want to run into you.

I read somewhere that researchers found that "deer whistles" actually attracted deer.

Which reminds of of the time.....
Photo is of Don the "deehunTTer". He also had one of those really cheap radar detectors. One that would set off all the other ones in a group drive. We dubbed it Don's Deer Whistle. Then he hit a deer!

Time for a new bike, Volition?
Had a truck like that...hit a deer, smashed the driver's side front of the truck. Got it repaired, damned if another deer didn't commit suicide and smash the EXACT same place on the truck. Got a different truck, problem solved. ;) *Almost* painted the deer kill signs on the left side of the truck but didn't want PETA/Boulderites/Humane Society/whatever after us.
Glad you aren't too banged up...I'm telling ya, new bike!

Yeah it was real funny... not. K 1st louder pipes would have made hum... ZERO FUCKlNG DIFFERENCE and the only reason I did not have enough time to slow down was b/c I had to use my low beams b/c of on coming traffic. With my high beams I would have seen and been able to avoid it. But thanks for your 2 cents.

Yeah well it's not really what I would consider a "hilarious" subject if you know what I mean, I don't mind joking about it, but you came off a little condescending with your comments... I
That being said I should have my bike back in working order by sunday and am itching to go for a ride!

I always see tons of deer on that stretch between Masonville and Horsetooth. Not so many during the day, but in the early evening they are out in force, and I am convinced they are trying to kill me. Deer are the devil, I swear.
Glad to hear you're ok.

I remember when you hit that deer last summer, what a bummer! I'm sure there are a ton of deer up there, considering I've even spotted deer hanging out in parking lots in Ft. Collins in the morning. Glad you're OK!
