Do we want to keep them separate or do we want to make this our ride?
Just thought I would throw it out there...Doesn't matter to me.

Ok, so stupid question, but since I don't know all of you...are you a fast paced group or just kinda chill and enjoy the ride? Do you all wear full leathers?
beavisr1
Thu Jul 27th, 2006, 09:44 PM
I will be riding all but leather pants and I go quick but not all that fast. I am not a REAL FAST rider but like a spirited ride... But I cannot speek for the rest of the group. But I have taken that road many many times on my way to ppir. lots of curves and depending if we choose to ride to manitou springs there are a lot of FAST straight aways that is where I like to hit the NAWWWWWWWWWWWS......... 60-180mph in about 5 seconds WOOOOOO hooooooooo.......
But always ride in your safe pace.... we will not leave anyone behind there are many chances to catch up if you fall back. Hell you might ride faster and better than me...
Beotch
Thu Jul 27th, 2006, 09:52 PM
lol, not to be a snob, but I able to hold my own on the bike...however I have a tendency to attract unwanted attention, especially on the streets, so I am usually pretty chill there and save my knee dragging for other places ;)
What route are you all planning on taking? I haven't done much canyon carving in the last few years so I don't know a lot of the roads.
beavisr1
Thu Jul 27th, 2006, 10:08 PM
Taking 285 west to pine junction(mostly straight riding) turning left at the light and the curves begin. Through a few small towns and great scenery and to a stopping point at Deckers. There is a small shopping center off the Hiway and a place to grab a drink(of water) and pee if necessary. If we choose to go further we will land in Manitou Springs and head back. But it is ok with me Probally to return after Deckers. It all depends on the others. Lots of twisties and fun. No bicyclists at all which is a good thing but maybe a little car traffic but easily over taken. Like I said before many places to catch up if you fall behind or lead for the rest of us to catch up. I like that road.

Just had a few questions...lol.

Fri Jul 28th, 2006, 04:46 PM
The times that I've been on Peak 2 Peak traffic is generally light going up, heavy if you come down through Boulder.
Last time I rode it was last year and the roads were in good condition then.
I've only ever seen 1 cop the couple of times I rode it, but I'm sure that changes daily and other's have seen more.
Round trip time with stopping in Estes for lunch is prob about 3 hours or so.

Last time I rode it was last year and the roads were in good condition then.Conditions are good for the most part. The corners are sketchy heading down into Nederland.
I've only ever seen 1 cop the couple of times I rode it, but I'm sure that changes daily and other's have seen more.Lots of cops usually between Central City and Nederland. Not as many North of Nederland and on towards Estes...

Alrighty...so myself and two buddies (one with his girl on the back) will be there at the Conaco at the Morrison/C470 exit at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. It'll be good to meet you all and have a nice ride.
Have we resolved the route yet though? Sounds like the southern route is washed out from Deckers south. Are we going to hit the Peak to Peak route instead?
Marty, what are your thoughts?
See ya on Sunday!
beavisr1
Fri Jul 28th, 2006, 07:46 PM
The ride is the same as planned. c-470 to 285 to pine junction and a left to deckers (should not be flooded out where we are riding) and we will see what is next. I am up for anything.

Fri Jul 28th, 2006, 07:52 PM
Deckers sucks, that's the winter ride. It's the middle of the summer, you should ride in the mountains, not the foothills.

Fri Jul 28th, 2006, 08:26 PM
I'll be riding, but I will be going as fast as I want, catching some air, getting my ass kicked by whoops o'plenty, riding wheelies whenever I please, with no worries of any cops pulling me over.:)
I was just making a suggestion, you will get sick of Deckers during the cold months, take advantage of the high country while you can.
Squaw pass to Loveland Pass to Hosier Pass to Kenosha Pass and back home is a nice day ride if you start earlier than 11:00am.

I'm up for a ride on Sunday. I think I need it. Not sure if I'm up for a full day - got too much stuff to do (though it would be a nice break). Personally, I'd rather leave a bit earlier, but I'm flex.

Hey all, mind if I join if I decide to (some friends wanna go ride tomorrow but not sure if they're still down since I haven't heard from them)? I like Rinn's idea 103 is a fun ride but last I heard there's a bit of gravel before you get to Echo Lake just outside of Echo Hills (I used to live in Evergreen so I know the road up to MM19 pretty well). Let me know, I'm leaving soon to go cruise up Morrison Canyon to my moms for a bit of the afternoon- short ride, anyone's welcome to join me I'm leaving Conoco about 2:45/3

Great meeting you all...good group of guys. So Marty, what happened to the bike anyway?...obviously it didn't sound right afterwards, but I wasn't sure what it was.
BTW, that route south was closed just about 2 miles south of where we left you guys. We turned around and instead of going the same way back as you all did, we took the left. It eventually brought us up to a dirt road about 3 miles long that then dropped us out just west of Sedalia. It was a pretty good ride except the washboard dirt road. All in all not too bad though.
Thanks again for having us all. We all enjoyed it.

So Randy was my pace too fast for you? I was taking it kinda easy in the begining.
Besides When I came home I had to tell my wife I broke MUFASA :(
But she was happy that I made it home safely and I get to ride her 03 cbr600RR
Her bike needs a good beating for a while. It's not like she is going to ride it.
