hte cheapest is to buy it off of ebay, and do it yourself. It is not hard to do.

Really it's that easy? I'm concerned about not getting it right somehow. A local guy at Sunsation Tint wants to charge me $200 just to do the tank.

Is a Clear Bra really worth the effort ? Just curious.. ?

1. Clear bra on tank to protect from tank bag & equipment scratches.
2. Clear bra on other areas to protect from road dings preserves resale value and that 'new bike look'

Can you put clear bra on plastic fairings? I only thought you could put it on the metal tank...

I want to clear bra my rear upper fairing so I can put on my soft sided saddle bags. I am planning a couple long road trips and I don't want the saddle bags to rub my paint.

Clear bra is just a big clear sticker. It can go over almost any surface.

Go to Performance Cycle! They sell 3M clear bra in sheets (12"x20") use a little soapy water and it will stick just fine to the fairings. I put some on my tank and lower farings because my leathers were "buffing" the clear coat so bad. The sheets are like 6 bucks, mine turned out pretty good considering my bike's black.

Just make some "templates" out of paper and transfer them over to the 3M after you trim and check the templates a couple times. Get a spray bottle and apply it just like window tint. :)

Laying over curved surfaces doesn't result in folding/kinking?

I have no clue, I just cut it out and in my case it was all applied to a flat surface. But spending 20 bucks is alot cheaper than 200. If you take your time it should turn out pretty decent. It might not look as "professional" as a clear bra installer's, but who cares? :)

And under the lights at the Shell, no one will notice the homemade application either.

I've always used the kits form these guys :

http://www.thetankslapper.biz/

Templates fit well and they offer any help necessary to get a perfect finish. They'll even mix and match the platics as much as you wish for a kit so the high wear areas can be trimmed in 3M sheet, while lower risk areas can still have some level of protection without breaking the bank.

For anyone that doesn't feel up to a do-it-yourself kit there is a guy at Performance Wheel and Tire that does it for not too much money. He has done it for a long time and is pretty damn good.

thanks, just curious if you priced it with him using his 3M stuff? $140 to install seems kinda high but then again I am not sure how long it really takes.

Thanks for the info

Venture shield is the material, considered superior to 3M in some respects (greater durability & no border discoloration), for price of $94. The install price was 2hrs @ 70 per hour. So this totals $234.
