Was thinking of repainting my ZX9R so I put some sketches togeather to get some input on what others might think. My painting skills are limited but I figured this is one way to learn or get better.

All black myself, but I"m very much a "paint everything matte black and give it a sleeper look" guy, so take that with a grain of salt.

The first one looks nice also though.

Yea I thought of coping the paint scheme of my Gixxer but since it is a Ninja I did not want to rip off another companies work and wanted something I did myself. But I do like that look in fact was actually looking at a yellow and black 750 gixxer but saw the bike I got and took it home.

I was looking at that to see if I can get away with it. I am also kicking around the idea of going all black then putting the POW MIA logo in yellow on my the side fairing and have my unit scroll put on the back seat cover since I will have bronze star plates on the bike. Not sure so many ideas and scared to put the paint too it.

I say go all black but do a sick lookin black like the new 4runners or the older x5 bmw they look just black until the light hits it or you are right up on it then the flake pops. Then you should check tapeworks they have some really nice stuff and its way easier then becoming pro at laying it out in paint. I've seen a 04 red and black r1 that had a flame kit on it and the red parts had the flat black flames and the black had the red flames and it looked sweet the red matched the bike perfect. I really liked how it tied the to colors of the bike together. They have all kinds of ideas for ya with pics of everything on bikes to.

I like the black with the color tint idea. I had Black with Blue Chip in it. It was sweet. Light hits it and shows a kinda navy blue. I duno, that's more of a scheme for a yamaha though... Why not just use that paint scheme of that 750 gsxr but with orange (from the zx10r) and black.

What's wrong with a yamaha paint job? Might actually make that gixxer look good!! :D

but this is all for a kawi. Paint is paint IMO. I'd paint mine green just to make people say "ugh(confused)..."

Can't go wrong with a green/white Monza replica! :)

Hey MJ, how long did it take again to get that Yamaha started? My kawi fired right up after being in the garage.

Go for that throw back theme. Wear a '85 bears superbowl ring... Although you would still be a loser by today's standards.

I think it was operator error. My 04 R-1 sat for six months while I was in Kuwait and it fired right up with just a bump of the start button.

As far as color scheme, go with mostly black and follow the body lines in a few spots with yellow.

hey dude, paint is paint and dont worry about it being another makes color. thats why it is called a custom paint job. i thought that the first style was the better of them but i do think it definitely needs some additional touches to make it stand out. if you want any ideas on different tricks, i.e. marbling pearls ect give me a holler and i'll chat up some ideas with you.
