So I was out on a 99 ZX9R with a 5 gallon tank, I burned through 4 gallons in a 135 miles making my gas mileage around 33 miles to the gallon. Does this sound right and these are the best figures I can come up with. The bike does have a full Muzzy exhaust and was told by Fort Collins Motorsports the bike was re-camed but did not know to what. I also have a K&N filter. This bike is new to me but I want to make sure I am doing all I can for it.

Gear it up or shift earlier if you want better mileage. That'll be the biggest factor.

I get from 40-50 MPG on my SRAD depending on how I ride, although the 50 area is based on what the factory said, so take it with a grain of salt....

I've seen 25 and 53mpg out of my busa. the 25mpg was the first tank of gas when i got it from the dealer. the 53mpg was a really easy ride up in the mountians lol. I average about 35-40 tho lol.

Sounds right. Litres typically run more. The Mille gets appr 32-37mpg

I was thinking I was in the ball park but like I said the bike is new to me and I am jumping from a 600 to a 900 so am going through a learning curve. Not to mention I tend to over think things and put more into then needs to be.

just like the old legal qualifier.... "mileage MAY vary...."
my bus has done LT 30 AND MT 50 in its 50k lifetime. it is all about how you treat 'em :yumyum:

:wtf: :wtf: Dude, get that thing looked at, something is wrong. I get around 18-20 on the GSXR at the racetrack, and 42-45 out of the R1 on the street. Hell, my 7000lb Dodge diesel gets close to 20 mpg (I LOVE diesels!)

As others have noted, the biggest factor is how agressive you are with the right hand and left foot. The bigger bikes tend to use more but if you ride gently they can do pretty well. My VF1000R tends to get about 35mpg and I tend to ride it somewhat spiritedly. The 750 Gixxer does a little better but it's not by a large amount (and when I get on that thing, it's not to ride gently :) ). My 500 Interceptor will easily do 50+ when doing easy cruising but less than 40 when run hard. Still breaking in the '07 Interceptor (VFR800FI) so I don't have any useful data for it yet but people typically get 40-50 when cruising.
