High idle

So on my 2000 gsxr I started it up after work everything seemed fine. Let it run until about 95 degrees (was idling about 1500 ususly does until warm then goes up to about 1800) all was fine. I took off not going over 5000 until warm, stopped a few times at red lights still fine. get about half way home bike is about 190 by now, stop for a light and it is idling about 3500. went adjust it and it would go up but back down below 3500. WTF?:banghead:
Any ideas?

You manually adjusted your idle here?
What year is the bike (FI or carb?)

2000 is FI and and you can adjust the idle manually I think? :dunno:

Throttle cable isn't hanging or any other basic checks?
