Silencer Packing

My Yamaha YZ 250F is so loud...like "call the police to enforce the noise ordanance" loud, I couldn't take it. Pulled the pipe apart and noticed that more than half of the packing has burned away. Bought replacement pakcing at Vickery but I don't know the first thing about repacking a pipe. Any suggestions? Volunteers?
