I am looking to up grade to a new chain and sprocket combination and need to know some of the basics on which chains are better then the others and which sprocket combo works best if I am intending to keep the bike on the street. I've done some initial research and my big concern is how long of a chain should I order and how many teeth should I add?

Thanks,
motaboy

Well I just did all of that to my R6 I went votex sprockets. I want to do wheelies easy so i went -1 in the front and +1 on the rear. I stayed with the stock size 530 chain, and got a new one from REGINA. I went to TK motorsports for all of it. They were real hepful. I also advise having them put the chain on for you. I ddi it my self but it was a pain in the A$$

I went -1 in front and +2 in the back. I kept the stock 532 chain. It has a lot of power now. I have a speedo healer to fix the speedo.

My Aprilia Mille (which you missed the other night 'cause I was out riding it!) came stock with a 525, and about 65 ft/lb of torque... So I'd say unless you're running something with more grunt than that, you don't need anything bigger. I put a 520 on the track bike (which you did see) because I don't think it makes enough power to really wear the chain too fast.

I'm running DID VM chains on both bikes, because it's a very good chain, but not the super fancy, mega dollar jobbie. I got it from http://whitebuffaloracing.com/

They were very good to deal with and had the best price I could find. I believe they only have it in the 120 link length, which is fine because you're going to have to cut the chain to fit anyway. I've also had good luck with Sprocket Specialists sprockets.

I just had a chain and sproket setup done by TFOG. My RC-51 was really tall in first gear, im really happy with the results and performance with the setup. Oh i went with 15/41 on a 520 chain.

Check the Wheels and Deals, TFOG was offering a special for April.
