Heading north on 119 out of Blackhawk, we spotted 2 cops within 2-3 miles of each other. Both were parked on the opposite side of the road facing south, clipping riders headed north. To the best of my recollection they were on straights, just a couple miles south of Rollinsville.

Keep your heads up.

Except that they tend to move around, so unless it gets updated in realtime it won't be as useful as you think. ;)

One ticket: 100-300 bucks, basic rate.
One basic RADAR detector: $65-150.

You do the math.

Got me on 119 last month but that one didn't bother me nearly as much as the motorcycle cop that pulled me over in Arvada a week ago. Wrote me yet another ticket - didn't even offer to write a warning. Wheres the love? He did say that they had upped their quotas significantly. No tickets for 7 years then 2 in 2 months. This blows.

True True True. They got me and two other bikes up there last month as well but we only got a warning. I dont think they got a radar lock on us and only read us the riot act... Ever since I have really been trying to chill out when in Gilpin County.

Well, from the cop's standpoint, I guess you can never be too careful. I hear those motorcycle trunks are getting quite spacey - and have been known to fit submachine guns and the like.

The number of tickets they write impacts their performance review.

But don't call it a quota!

I was up on P2P a couple of years ago w/ a buddy - went thru Rollinsville super slowly - saw a cop sitting there - was going 10 MPH under the speed limit. Headed out of town - still 10 under - got about half a mile away and suddenly saw the "anti party lights" heading toward us - I was wondering WTF is that about, there must be an accident in front of us. The cop ends up pulling us over and is literally screaming at us - they divide us - me behind the car, my buddy in front. About 1 min later 2 cops stop by for back-up. I was like "what is the problem officer?" The guy was screaming - not yelling - "HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR BIKE IMPOUNDED!?" I wanted to say I'd love my fucking bike impounded you ignorant redneck fuck, but I said, "hmmmm, I don't think I'd like that." After over 10 minutes of standing there, I finally am told that we "gunned" it out of town. I said, if driving 10 MPH under the speed limit is gunning it, I'm guilty as charged. I even waved to the cop when we went by - I told them that if I was dumb enough to nail it after driving right by a cop, that I deserve a tkt for being the dumbest person in the f-ing world. I asked to see the radar - of course they did not have anything - they ran our reg and checked for insurance and let us go after well over 30 minutes. I don't go real fast in that area anymore. All of those cops had major attitudes and were undoubtedly total losers in HS and hadn't been laid in a loooong time. Those assholes give cops a bad name.

Well - think about it. If you lived in Rollinsville, wouldn't you be a little cranky too? But seriously, those cops have NOTHING better to do than chase bikers. I think one cop even mentioned something to konichd during their incident last weekend... something along the lines of, "[bikers] are the only reason [they're] out there".

Officer Enke was polite enough to inform me that we're (sportbikers) are the main revenue generator out there. But he did say, and I quote, "with all the reports you guys are the reason we're out here."

The funny thing was they didn't even notice "Ebony" didn't have any mirrors, etc.

Don' think mirrors are required on bikes, neither are turn signals if you use the right hand signals... might be wrong about the mirrors.

Coming down 7 yesterday afternoon from 72 and I did the speed limit until about 3/4's of the way down. I had 4 cars and 2 bikes in line behind me :D Then I got behind a welding truck that was doing 5mph less than I was.

At the 3/4's mark, I threw caution to the wind, let the first rider by me (waved her through) and tried to wave the second guy through but he was on a cruiser and couldn't get up to me quickly enough in the passing zone. I kept up with the blond lady in white until she pulled over, I guess to wait for the cruiser guy. I wanted to pull in behind her to tell her the best way to hang off (she was throwing her butt off the seat but leaning over the bike in the opposite direction; like she was trying to lay crossways on the bike).

At the bottom I pulled in and waited on Rita. She zoomed by about a minute later. The guy on the cruiser putted by a few minutes after that with one saddlebag lid flapping in the breeze, then 5 or so minutes later, Rita rolled by.

No cops though. And no cops on 119 or Peak to Peak at 6ish on Friday.
