So why make fast vehicles and have a slow speed limit? I can understand in certain areas, but Interstates and roads that could handle high speeds should have higher speed limits.

When I was in Germany, not EVERYONE did 100+, people drove what they were comfortable driving. So, if the argument is that everyone would be forced to drive faster...nah!

OK, I got nailed and it's nobody's fault but mine.
But in my defense, and so that people don't think I'm some crazed
speed demon, let me describe what happened.

I got separated from Pilot and Frank just after the summit of Berthoud Pass (north/west into winter park).
I resisted the urge to pass on the double yellow and waited like a good boy.
(They don't give downhill traffic many passing points.)

Finally it opened up with a passing lane.
Had to jump past about 15 cars, with some of them passing eachother.
Came to the end of the passing lane and had to get on the throttle to pass the last 2 cars.

The road went back to one lane, just got off the throttle and bang, there's the trooper coming up and he clocks me doing 83 in a 40.

As God is my witness, I thought the limit was at least 50 in the straight,
and I had just started scrubbing off speed before the upcoming curve but hadn't got on the brakes yet.

100 yards more and he maybe would have gunned me doing 50.
