So I've decided that at the end of this month I'm going to get a 600 cc sport bike, keep my zx10r as well, ride the 6 for a year or 2 and then convert it to a race bike and start racing in the mra and cmra. I just can't decide which bike to go with... I work at OTD cyclesports in Denver so I could get the gixxer for a bit less money and less hassel, but I've had my eye on the zx6r since they released the first pictures of it last year. I'm not hoping for someone to tell me "get this bike" I'm just curious what experience other people have had with the 2 bikes. I know most of the feature differences between the 2, like the slipper clutch, waved rotors, 6 spoke rims, ext. What kinds of things do you guys who have some more experience with these bikes have to say about them?

I bought a new gsxr6 a few years ago.

I have been riding it pretty damn hard and had 0 issues with it.

Suzuki usualy has pretty good contingency programs as well.

Contingency is only valid for bikes for 2 years, if you ride it for 2 yrs on the street it wouldn't be eligible any more. It is only paid in specific expert classes also.

I have both a zx-10 and zx-6 and glad I have them both. One advantage is that a lot of the parts are interchangable. I tricked out my zx-10 so now I have stock rearsets, clip-ons, etc. that will all work on my zx-6.

Plus, I'm just a Kawi fan. :)

The 07 ZX-6 has a cartridge style transmission too if I remember correctly. That may be one more thing to consider.

Thanks for the help guys, i think i am going to go with the kawi cuz of the better features but probably get the early 08 and mod it for racing for 08 and 09, not sure if I'll be good enough right off the bat to actually get any contingency money though.

Hmmmmmm very interesting! My decision was between the zx 6r and the 600rr? I was wondering why you weren't considering the new rr, given its fantastic braking system, even though it has no slipper clutch. I was thinking the gsxr was a little behind the technology curve this year. Any comments??

Can't go wrong with the Kawi. Awesome motor, standard slipper, plus its definately the best looking. :)

ALL the cool kids own Kawi's

I'm 32 and ride a GSXR750. Does that make me old and uncool?
