I will officially post and stop hijacking other threads, http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14433, Tomorrow morning at Morrison Conoco 9:15.
220 to 320 mile ride. The pace will vary and exact route is TBD, going up to Estes or Loveland where it sounds like the pack may dwindle finishing back in Morrison.

Come on ppl. Riding 300 miles by my self is doable and better then sitting on the couch but a few more would make it a good time.
If no one commits by ride time I might end up memorizing 100 miles of IMI. :|

Ok...so, my oldest (my son) was the last to notify and I need to make sure everyone is honky-dory before I head out...but, yep, you'll see me in the a.m. So, you won't be *that* lonely.;)

I did a 300 mile ride last Thursday by myself. It was fun -- I could stop anywhere, take pictures, gawk, be a tourist, etc.

However, I will try and make it tomorrow, but I'm nearly sick (even called into work sick today) and will not be sure until the morning.

Why not meet in a more central location?

BTW, if you're going north, then why are you meeting so far south?

mtnairlover
Mon Jul 9th, 2007, 12:22 PM
Jason...get someone's numba so you can let us know whether you will show or not...oh, and feel better real soon.:)

Meh...meeting south means we hit the canyons/mountains from down there first and work our way north. Either way, it'll be a good ride.

Really? Hmmm...

I think you've been looking at that one pic of the lone rock spire on the SoWeCo ride a bit much...that's what I think. You were probably the one doing the stroking gesture, too, huh? <poke, poke...rib, rib>:eyebrows:

Actually, I was thinking that the olive oil would come in handy in order to get Scott nicely seared at the thought of us riding mid-week. Of course, we're talking Scott here, so it would probably take more than olive oil to get him steaming.

Gah...I kill me...ha!

Luff ya, Scott.

Hoping everyone made it home ok. Let's see...me and pro-xr434 are home...who else?

I know that trek from Loveland down to HR is a doozy. I just hope you all were able to make it through afternoon traffic ok. Traffic this morning was only bad between 120th and 84th and it was stop and go at some points.

Anyway, since I'm home and have uploaded my pics, I thought I'd share a few.

Jason gives this ride a big double thumbs up...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/jasonthumbsup.jpg

Toby got a tad delusional in the clean, brisk mountain air and swung his leg over the wrong bike for a bit...
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/tobyposing.jpg

Somewhere along hwy125 before Walden and my not-so-fave mountain pass only cuz I seemed to have hit every pot hole on that pass...gah!
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l12/mtnairlover/thegroup.jpg

I like riding along hwy14 along Cameron Pass on the East side of the pass. The West side of the pass is still a tad tricky with its bumps and dips. Poudre Canyon was great considering traffic was at a minimum even as late in the day as we were there...around 4'ish I believe...last pic before Stove Prarie...

Ha! I wasn't shocked as much as I was like..."Wow, finally seeing another one of the Northern peeps on the road...w00t!" Me and the kid (young buck as he says), road a total of 311 miles today. Not bad. Down to Morrison, up US40, over Berthoud Pass, up hwy125 to Walden for late lunch, then hwy14 over Cameron Pass and to Stove Prairie down to hwy34 and then peeps split up.

I'm curious to find out how many miles Warren put on, since he came from all the way up in Winter Park. He ended up splitting off at hwy34 and taking Trail Ridge to go back home to Winter Park.

Hope to ride with ya again soon.:)

I ended up putting on just over 400 miles today, but I ended up wussing out and not going over trail ridge. It was cold up in estes so I turned back around. But hey I got to ride Berthoud pass one more time! Thanks to everyone. I had a really good time. I didn't even feel like I did too bad for my first group ride (well minus the near guard rail incident) I love tips and advice though, even constructive criticism so let me know what I need to work on. Thanks again everyone it was fun!

welp i rode from aurora to lakewood, hung out for a bit with ma girl tamira and then hung out with alan, then rode back home and i was tired. needless to say, it felt good getting back out on the bike, it's been a few months since the last ride on her.

next time you folks plan a easy/noobie ride during the week let me know. i'm not online much but Cathy you have my number so hit me up!

i can't do long canyon rides but a couple hours are good to start with!

Something just occurred to me...Hey, Pilot! Did you finally get that ice cream you wanted? Oh and POST UP THAT GROUP PIC! Well, as long as yours truly didn't go and brake your camera.

Warren, I don't have any criticism to give right now. I like how well you ride for having been riding less than 2 months. More group rides will get you more comfy, but other than that, I don't have anything.

Girl...we're gonna have to do a girlie noob ride soon. I know of a couple more girlie newbs who want to get together as well. I'll let ya know the plans when they happen.

Today's ride was most def not for newbs. I'm still amazed at how much I've improved in the past year. I told the guys today that last year, I would have never been able to keep up...I woulda been a good hour behind.;)

Anytime you guys and Cathy want to come south, let me know. We would love to cook you dinner and get in a ride.

Toby, if there is anything that you need, let me know. Great meeting you, and I look forward to seeing you again.

On a long and lonesome highway east of ....

http://img2.putfile.com/main/7/19100313475.jpg

Late Apex: Wait for it; wait for it... This scenery is just like down by the four corners. Excellent roads down that way, too.

http://img2.putfile.com/main/7/19100313418.jpg

It seems as if the wait staff at the lunch stop outnumbered customers 2 to 1. Yet, the water glasses required a little begging to get filled up. I think our waitress was a dominatrix on the side. Note the shy, submissive (eyes looking to the ground look, ha). "Do not make eye contact with the Mistress, dog. Or no more water for you!"

http://img2.putfile.com/main/7/19100313440.jpg

Excellent photo ops on the Poudre. This has got to be the best route for scenery along the Front Range. (Say, Toby, don't be pickin' none of those "five leaf" plants with your left hand!)

Hey all,

It was nice to meet all. It was definitely a different ride experience up north. I was shocked how Poudre Canyon turned from mild corners to a bucking bronco of a Lookout Mountain style ride in a hurry. That off camber, decreasing radius turn bit me in the ass. One lapse in judgment is all it took for there to be a delay in game :(. Thanks for waiting! Thanks all for the support, sorry to make you wait.

And yes a screen name change may be in order. I cant tell if my helmet says 0skills or o'skills. Maybe I will add the word "lack" and make it Lack O'skills.

Hitting the guard rail? What you heard was a failed attempt at a 50/50 coping grind.

Note to self: 50/50's don't work on street bikes.

good to see that most of you had a good long ride.
i really wish i would've been able to make some of it,but as i said before i was expecting a freind who travelled 500 miles just to hang out.
when you guy's went past us just as you were leaving masonville,we were just beginning our ride.
funny though is that cathy didn't realize i had switched rides with dave.
she got all ecstatic to see me on the road. i could tell by the way she started waving.
all the time she thought i was the rider on my bike.

i have to let the cat out of the bag though.
i wanted to run the meanstreak for a bit. i enjoyed it quite alot.
i kept looking back to see if you guy's were gonna try a turn around. i figured not, since you'd been running all day.

any way's.
i wanted to post a couple pics and an entry video from yesterday's ride.
the vid is after we switched back.
it's short, but check out the way dave rails that cruiser.

he's a madman IMO
